⚠️UPDATE - 4:45 p.m. (10/27) - The forecast for snow totals from the National Weather Service show accumulation as high as 21 inches on through the tunnel, as well as . Accumulation expected in Denver is as high as 11 inches as part of the first major storm of the season moving into starting tonight, Oct. 27.

🔸 With snow totals as high as 17 inches in the northern mountains, travelers in the high country should have winter tires installed on personal vehicles or chains on trucks.
🔸 A temporary safety closure for CO 82 Independence Pass will go into place at noon on Friday, Oct. 27, due to the winter storm. The road will reopen once weather has improved and the road is safe. The alternate route from Denver to Aspen is via westbound to Glenwood Springs, then CO 82 to Aspen.
🔸In southeast and northeast Colorado, snow is anticipated to begin Saturday night through Sunday morning. Drivers should expect some windy conditions and wet roads.
