Our Carnival is tomorrow, Friday, 5-6:30pm. Our event is free, however there will be 3 food trucks here for a fee. Thanks for Chicago Grill, Señores Tacos, and Ice Daddy's for joining us!

Clase 178 y 180 con Maestra Alba y Maestra Abbie hoy tuvieron mucha diversión en el gimnasio por el día de caminar o andar en bicicleta.

Classes 178 and 180 with Ms. Alba and Ms. Abbie had lots of fun in gym for the walk, bike, and roll to school day.

In April our students were busy learning all about Engineering and many created homes that would be strong after reading different versions of "The 3 Little Pigs." We ended it with a fun celebration and testing parties.

En abril, nuestros estudiantes aprendieron sobre el mundo de Ingeniería y crearon casas fuertes después de leer varias versiones de "Los 3 Cerditos." Terminamos con una celebración y pruebas.

Urbana Early Childhood School, which serves 3 to 5 year-old children within the Urbana School District, is seeking raffle
prizes and sponsors for our Annual Spring Carnival Event to be held on May 17th, 2024. The purpose of the carnival is to
bring everyone together and connect to our school families.
Our carnival will feature games and activities for the children and their families, at no cost to them. This is by far our
most well attended event of the year.

As part of the C-U community, we are asking you to support early childhood education for our preschoolers in one of the
following ways:
* Donating merchandise or gift cards to be used in the raffle.
* Off-setting carnival expenses at $25, $50, $75 or $100 (for water bottles, supplies, carnival prizes, games, etc).

Our young engineers are at it again!
Ms Liz read The Three Little Pigs (no wolves were harmed in the telling of the story ) during library.
Students identified the problem in the story, brainstormed possible solutions and then made a plan.
They designed, built, tested and made revisions!

Tomorrow is the big wind (wolf) test! Will the structures be wind resistant and keep the pigs safe? What other ways did our engineers solve the problem in the story?

We continue to celebrate our young engineers this week! We tinkered. We created. What can you make with a box? What can you imagine a pipe cleaner to be?

Here are some great stories to stimulate your young engineer's brain to make something, anything, and to revise their design when it falls down, breaks or doesnt work. We are practicing our problem solving skills and perseverance!

The Week of the Young Child started with Music Monday. Staff dressed up as their favorite music genres, students made musical instruments, and we paraded out of the building to music. Our afternoon students also got to experience the eclipse!

La Semaine du Jeune Enfant a commencé avec le Lundi en Musique. Le personnel s'est déguisé selon son genre musical préféré, les étudiants ont fabriqué des instruments de musique et nous avons défilé hors du bâtiment au son de la musique. Nos étudiants de l’après-midi ont également pu vivre l’éclipse !

La Semana del Niño Pequeño comenzó con el Lunes de Música. El personal se vistió según sus géneros musicales favoritos, los estudiantes fabricaron instrumentos musicales y desfilamos fuera del edificio con música. ¡Nuestros estudiantes de la tarde también pudieron experimentar el eclipse!

UECS Engineering Weeks are back! Ms. Liz kicked off the fun with her library story If I Built A House. The students then tinkered and created using a variety of materials. They made all kinds of imaginative structures.
Why is it important to tinker? Tinkering helps children to figure out how things work, how to take things apart and how to put things together. It works on fine motor skills. And it helps to develop problem solving and perseverance. Stay tuned to see what happens next!

Before Spring Break Sous Chef Shae McKee from Quest Food Management Services came and did a cooking demonstration for Maestra Alba's classes! They learned a lot about cooking from a real live chef!

We had so much fun last night during our game night, thanks for coming out and playing with us!
