We have just received an update about our water situation. Unfortunately, we will need to close school for tomorrow, October 31, due to our plumbing problems not being resolved. We do hope to have our building functioning for school on Friday.
We hope the advanced notice will assist families in making appropriate plans. We appreciate your patience!

What a fantastic morning! BCEMS students and staff joined NBC5's Marissa Vigevani to help forecast the day's weather. Though it was quite a chilly morning, it was so much fun for all! Watch the recap today at 4pm to hear from one of last night's talent show participants as well as Elementary Assistant Principal, Melissa Greenwood. Next week, we'll post the link to all of today's action!
We are super excited for our BTMES students and staff to take their turn on NBC5's "Weather at Your School" next Friday, November 1!

On Tuesday, October 1st, 27 Barre City Middle School Chorus volunteers performed for the opening of the Research and Exhibition Gallery at the Vermont Historical Society in Barre!
Student performers got a "sneak peak" of the gallery before their performance. The exhibit highlighted historical Vermont artifacts. Middle School student performers sang "These Green Mountains" to kick off the opening ceremony. Later, Spaulding High School chorus members sang "Hail! Vermont."
This video includes both performances. Such an incredible day with our talented students!

We are excited to have NBC5 Meteorologist, Marissa Vigevani, broadcasting her live weather updates from our school on Friday, October 25 between 4:30 AM and 8:00 AM. Broadcasts will take place at approximately 15-minute intervals. This is part of NBC5’s “Weather at Your School” program.
During the broadcast, Ms. Vigevani will be positioned by the picnic tables, adjacent to the visitor parking, with the camera pointed toward the school building. There will be opportunities for students who are interested in interacting with Ms. Vigevani to “make an appearance” and give a weather forecast of their own throughout the morning in the live broadcast. If you would like your student(s) to participate, please arrive between 4:30 AM and 8:00 AM. Parent(s)/guardian(s) will need to remain with their student(s) until school opens at 8:45 AM.
What about students and families who cannot attend? How can they view the broadcast?
- Channel 5, from 4:30 AM - 7:00 AM
- Valley CW, from 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM on cable
- Stream live online at MyNBC5.com or the MyNBC5 Mobile App, from 4:30 AM -8:00 AM
After the morning broadcast, students may also participate in other recorded segments with Marissa that will air during the 4:00pm newscast to recap the event and spotlight our school. I am pleased to announce that the BUUSD School Board voted to adopt a school budget that will be presented to the community at voting polls on September 17, 2024.
We are working on a community engagement plan. By this I mean to find ways to engage parents, community groups, community members and others in a personal way to answer questions and to ensure that factual information gets out to the public. Check out the Bennington Martens Basketball Clinic for grades 5-8 and high school.
The Bennington Martens (Vermont's only pro basketball team) will also hold an exhibition game vs Barre First Responders at the Barre Auditorium on Saturday, August 31 at 8pm.
All funds raised will go towards the Barre Community Relief Fund!
