With deep appreciation, we wish Teacher Laura Falkenstein a bittersweet farewell from P.V. Hills, and joy as she explores new life adventures! She has made an incredible impact on our special school and has truly touched so many of our hearts.

Laura began teaching at P.V. Hills in 2006, after her children graduated from our school. She has had the role of Teacher and Director and has been a source of support, knowledge, and care for so many of us through these many years. Her love of teaching our children and guiding our parents has inspired us all - and lucky for us, she will continue to be an integral part of our school by remaining on our Board as an Associate Member. You can't get rid of us!

Thank you, Laura, for your warmth, immense love for our children and families, and all that you are! We can go on & on. We love you!

The PV Hills-a-Thon was great fun for everyone! Here are some snapshots of the children giving their all and cheering each other on! During the event they also prepared healthy snacks that were purchased at their recent field trip to the Torrance Farmer's Market. Happy Spring to our P.V. Hills Community! In April we have started a Kindness & Wellness Campaign at our school. Through their daily experiences, the children engage in learning about nutrition and to how to be mindful and kind to themselves, each other, and our environment.

Our campaign concludes with our Annual PV Hills-A-Thon, where our children will take part in a Trike-A-Thon (3-day class) or Hop-A-Thon (2-day class) in an effort to collect donations for their participation. Our 1st Annual Trike-A-Thon event was great fun! The children tried their best and cheered on their fellow classmates with homemade posters, ribbon streamers, and encouraging words! Hello everyone! In April we celebrate Kindness & Wellness Month at P.V. Hills. During this month we have been practicing how to be kind to ourselves, those around us, and how to support healthy minds and bodies through activities such as yoga, creating glitter jars to help us take deep breaths, making orange juice & healthy snacks, and positive affirmation posters, such as, "I Am Loved."

Happy Earth 🌏 Day! Today, the children participated in the innovation station in honor of the earth 🌱 by reusing materials and learning about how to protect & preserve our planet, even through small habits we can implement every day.

We love exploring nature at P.V. Hills & are lucky that our very own playground is full of an abundance to observe, learn, and be a part of 🌳 We are learning to do our best to be mindful of how we use our resources and take care of our one and only home ❤️!

Teachers, what would we do without you? 💐❤️💐 This past week we had fun celebrating Teacher Nada, Teacher Trichelle, & Teacher Laura, showering them with love, hugs, & their favorite things for ! We feel incredibly lucky to have them as such a foundational role in our children's lives.

Each of you ladies are so special. The care & intention you put into each lesson, in teaching and supporting each beautifully unique child, the effort you put into our families & school - the list goes on. You are leaving a lasting imprint on our children's hearts that will help guide them every day into the future...we can't thank you enough. It is our hope that you feel appreciated every day beyond this week, because you really are 🌟🌿

Pssst...PV Hills has been remodeled! The heart is the same, but everything else is repainted, updated, cleaned up, & refreshed! A huge thank you to our Maintenance Chair (& 3-day parent), Mia Franco, for leading us through the renovations and putting in countless hours to this cause. You truly went above & beyond. We will forever be thankful for the impact this has made on the school, staff, our children, and the future of PV Hills. We didn't think it was possible, but it's even more magical and beautiful than before!

Over 25 members of PV Hills Nursery School merrily wheeled or marched this weekend at the Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights! ❄✨

It felt wonderful to be a part of the community & to see and hear PV Hills Alumni cheer us on from the sidelines💛!! We had a LOT of fun spreading holiday cheer ourselves- and as a bonus, we won 2nd Place in the Marching category! 😊

Starting to feel the holiday spirit? ❄️ The Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights is this Saturday, Dec. 4th, 6pm-7:30pm! Join P.V. Hills as we march & spread holiday cheer- all P.V. Hills families and Alumni are welcome! Children under 8 yrs. old must be on wheels (wagon, stroller, scooter, bikes, etc.). Feel free to decorate them, dress up (just not as Santa) & meet us @ 5pm. We at PV Hills Nursery School are thankful for friendship & the time we get to connect with each other. Thank you to our amazing community and the families who support us and work alongside us, and who are willing to expand and learn alongside their children. We are so grateful for our beautiful school environment that brings us together and allows us a space to explore, play, and learn. The children took part in a thankful hands poster and a gratitude chain to express all the things that they are thankful for...even ice cream!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Our 3-4 year old class has been hard at work this fall starting their own small business. After opening up and exploring a pumpkin they wanted to sell the pumpkin seeds. They came up with the idea of a pumpkin seed stand. They sold the seeds so that people could buy them and plant them. After raising $26 they decided to use their profits to treat their families at our Thanksgiving gathering to pumpkin pie and banana muffins that they made. Please take a look at their journey and how proud they were through the process.

So many ways to explore pumpkins...from cracking them open, to pulling them in a wagon, to cooking with them...take a look! The children have really enjoyed all the pumpkins thanks to Pavilions and Trader Joe's for donating pumpkins to our school.

Dear Palos Verdes Peninsula Community,

In 1953, a group of enthusiastic and energetic parents founded Palos Verdes Nursery School. Like any fledgling organization, money was always a concern. Rummage sales, fashion luncheons, bridge luncheons, dinner dances were a constant preoccupation.

In 1955, a member came up with the idea of compiling a telephone directory for a fund-raising project. The first PV Directory was “mailed” in June of that year, requesting that the recipients make a donation to Palos Verdes Hills Nursery School….and so the legacy began.

Over the past 65 years, the Directory has been the local phone book and source of Peninsula information. It has been a cherished staple in the Palos Verdes Peninsula community creating a heartfelt connection & resource between families and local businesses.

This past year, we have seen many changes and challenges arise for businesses due to COVID, and after sixty-five years of serving the Palos Verdes Peninsula community, the PV Directory will be saying farewell to its amazing residents and loyal advertisers.

On behalf of all the families of PV Hills Nursery School through the years, thank you so much for your support and being a part of the tradition that has kept the Directory in our community and close to our hearts.
