Simply put, autoimmune diseases are conditions where the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues rather than a foreign molecule like bacteria, and they are a huge problem both in this country and worldwide.
You’re probably familiar with the most common autoimmune diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto’s, and psoriasis.
But there are many more autoimmune diseases that affect the nervous system, joints and muscles, skin, endocrine glands, and heart.
In a recent episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy, I talk about the main causes of autoimmune disease, the conventional medicine approach versus the Functional Medicine approach to treating autoimmune disease, and how to reverse the course of these devastating illnesses.

The gut is the number one place to investigate when healing the body of any chronic symptoms or diseases. If your gut isn’t healthy, you’re not healthy.
Our gut and the tons of bacteria that reside within it regulate many of our bodily functions, from creating vitamins to controlling our immune system, our brain function, and, of course, our metabolism and weight.
These are all quick and easy things you can start to do today to maintain a healthy gut.
However, if you’re having more severe gut problems, you’ll want to consult with a Functional Medicine doctor to figure out the root cause along with a more personalized approach.

Best crab cake I’ve ever had — gf without any fillers, we LOVE that 🙌🏼🦀🦪 (we also ate our hearts worth of oysters but we dug in too fast to document).
Looks like mush but it was yum 🌈

‼️As seen on my story… link on story to read full article.‼️ But this is so disappointing. These big names in American beverages (Pepsi, Coke, etc) are clearly getting desperate if they are paying influencers to scream that a food is healthy when there is ABUNDANT research showing otherwise. Keep your head up and your eyes OPEN. What we have seen, cannot be unseen. Don’t submit. If you do, you put more money in these manipulators pockets and your health makes the ultimate sacrifice. 👊🏼
Oyster season is HERE 😋🦪

My field of Nutritional Psychiatry tackles anxiety symptoms by recommending food choices backed by scientific research. It operates on the premise that the foods we consume have a significant impact on either alleviating or worsening anxiety, primarily through the gut-brain connection.
The hyper-palatability of foods containing added and refined sugars might initially satisfy the taste buds, but an overabundance of sugar can ultimately disrupt gut health, intensify inflammation, raise anxiety levels, and deteriorate one's mood.
The food industry's industrialization has resulted in the creation of low-cost, extensively processed oils. During this processing, these oils become rich in omega-6 fatty acids while lacking omega-3s. An overabundance of omega-6 fatty acids in our diet contributes to an excessive presence of inflammatory compounds throughout the body, particularly in the gut and brain.
Pumped with preservatives and additives, meats like sausages, salami, deli meats, jerky, bacon are processed with additives to retain their flavoring. Sodium nitrite, which is used to preserve the pink color in meat disrupt gut health and lead to low energy and mood shifts.
Use your body intelligence to pay attention to how alcohol makes you feel. If you feel jittery or anxious when consuming alcohol, then it may not be a suitable decision for you.
