If your brain goes into overdrive when you go to bed, or you wake up feeling tired we can help.

One of the greatest opportunities I have is to meet new clients and get them started right away to create changes that help them sleep better.
But it is not just sleep that changes. When we work on sleep we also have to work on stress reduction, time management, how to have fun in life, and a host of other topics.

Sleep is a symptom of a life that may no longer be working for us.

It is time to find that small change you can make today that will help you sleep better so you can enjoy your life.

Listening to the small voice inside you can be tricky sometimes. You have to learn to trust yourself and you have to learn to to differentiate between your true self and your inner critic.

When you question what you are listening to the one question I always ask myself is " Does this help me grow or shrink?"

As I start to look at what I would like 2024 to look like I have asked myself this question so many times.

For me looking at my physical body and what it should be "ideally" is actually something that makes me shrink. It is something that holds me in place. It is an excuse for not moving forward.

This year instead I am going to spend the year discovering what makes me feel good, happy, energetic, what makes me laugh, what makes me want to move forward. It is my year to discover who I want to be for the second half of my life.

BTW yes we women go through mid life crisis also. That is why finding out who I am (living up to my purple hair) is going to be so much fun.

Had a great talk about sleep coaching and how it is the future of sleep.

I want to see people to sleep better. To do that they need support.

When I look at the future of sleep care the one piece we are missing is support.

Someone needs to step up. It should be the sleep technologist.

You Need to Put Yourself on Your Calendar

That is the thing I see so often when I work with clients.

Everyone comes before them. They feel they have to give their time and their energy to everyone, so they procrastinate sleeping because the only time they have for themselves is late at night.

What if you took the time today to schedule a little time to do what you love?

It could be as simple as taking a 15-minute walk. Or drawing or painting. Or get on the floor and play with the dog.

Whatever it is, take time for you.

If you are struggling to find that time sign up for my Better Sleep Tonight Assessment and we can talk about where this might fit into your life.

I am creating a program to teach you how to be a sleep coach. I would love to hear from you, what would you like to learn in that program?

We want to sleep better. But you need to ask yourself why.

❓Why am I willing to put down the phone
❓ Why do I want to change my bedtime routine
❓ Why am I willing to learn new skills

The answer is different for everybody. It is about what you want to do or how you want your day to be.

It might be so you have energy to do something, or to be able to focus better on work.

No matter what the reason there is help.

Sleep is not only about what happens in bed.

It is about the little changes that we make that will allow us to sleep better tonight.

Consider what a 5-15 minute time to unwind will affect you?

Mask Type Affects Airway Collapsibility in OSA 13/04/2023

Why a nasal mask should be the first choice for OSA

I have worked for many years in the field of sleep. When working directly with patients I have found most often that most people do better with nasal masks. Their compliance is better, and they are more comfortable once they have been given time to get used to it.

This study, although small, shows why this might be the case. It appears that people need more pressure and have more upper airway issues with a full-face mask than a nasal mask.

If you are struggling with your CPAP or have questions, I will be doing a webinar on May 3rd to help you sleep better tonight. I will be sharing the link soon so stay tuned.

Mask Type Affects Airway Collapsibility in OSA Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) needed higher therapeutic pressure when using oronasal masks compared to nasal masks.

Insomnia, Short Sleep Linked to Greater Risk for MI 28/02/2023

𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐃𝐢𝐞

It's a common enough phrase, but it can also be true sooner than you might think.

This study was a huge one looking at over a million people who had heart attacks and found that

People who slept less than 6 hours were almost 70% more likely to have a heart attack.

This is just one of the reasons that sleep is important to your health.

If you are struggling to sleep and are looking for solutions that are simple and will not

require you to take a pill or change your whole lifestyle schedule an introductory call and we can

find what solutions are right for you. https://calendly.com/akorn_coaching/getting-to-know-you

Insomnia, Short Sleep Linked to Greater Risk for MI Healthcare professionals should be asking all patients about their sleep — just as they would ask about diet and exercise — as a key aspect of maintaining heart health, says a sleep expert.

The life of a pug is hard. Especially when he did not sleep last night G he because this bronchitis kept me up all night.

Even thoughI know that sleep is the best medicine for any illness I could not sleep.

The plan today is to take naps where I can and lots of tea and honey between client.

Even sleep coaches have problems sleeping.

But Milo reminds me that taking care of yourself is the most important thing.

"Starting your day off on the right foot is key to a productive and positive day. Incorporating sunlight and visualization into your morning routine can make a huge difference! Sunlight helps regulate your body's natural sleep-wake cycle, leading to improved mood and energy. And taking a few moments to visualize how you want your day to go can help you stay focused and motivated. Try it out and see the benefits for yourself!"

With the New Year heading out way we should consider making small changes that will generate big results.
Sleep is one of those small changes.
Our bedroom should be inviting, with no clutter (that robs us of better sleep), quiet, dark, and inviting. You want to feel restful in your bedroom.
Consider taking 10 minutes to declutter your bedroom this weekend so you can start the year sleeping better.
If you are looking for more ideas on how to sleep better, visit my website. The link is in my bio.

𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱
I had a client who had finished his chemotherapy and was told he was in remission. He assumed that his sleep would return to normal. He did discuss the issue with his physician who gave him a pill to fix the problem. I also had a woman who did discuss the same issue with her physician and was told she needed clean up her sleep hygiene.
There are a few studies that have been done on the results of sleep and chemotherapy. The ones I could find were all small and stated that more research needed to be done. What they all had in common was that there was a significant increase of insomnia and other sleep disorders in people who have received treatment for cancer. This included chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and surgery. One study showed that the more treatment that was received the worse the sleep issues and the longer they would last after therapy.
When we are going through something as serious as Cancer, we need to sleep to heal and refresh. The fact that so little is done to help people who are fighting to get better shows that something needs to change. Sleep coaching, CBT-I, and other forms of care should be part of the overall care for cancer patients. Learning to deal with stress, how best to rest and recharge, watching for other sleep disorders such as sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome should be part of their care.
Care for health conditions should not be limited to medication. It should be more holistic. We need to provide care and support for things such as sleep, nutrition, and stress management.
If you would like to read more about ways to improve your sleep, please check out my blog. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to message me.
