Update: night stand with glass k***s SOLD
Lingerie dresser is PENDING SALE.
It's with deep sadness that I have to announce due to unfortunate circumstances I was forced to close Clockwork Vintage and move out of state. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for the many years you have all supported me and allowed me to grow and to continue doing what I love. ❤️
I left behind my bedroom furniture as I ran out of room to store it and will be needing it moved out within the next month. I would like to offer it for sale here first to all my loyal customers and clients and if anyone would like to arrange to see it, send me a message. (I don't have measurments but will try to get them and update post then)
Unfortunatly these pieces are for pick up only in East Moriches and I won't be available to help move :-( Everything is in excellent condition except one night stand may need some touching up on the top. I have since updated all the handles since taking these pictures.
Good evening friends! Clockwork Vintage Creations will be temporarily closed due to some major issues in my workshop that I am working on getting repaired! If you are on my schedule waiting for work, please bear with me as I work to resolve these issues in order to continue working out of my shop. I apologize, and I hope to be back in business soon!!! Thank you for your patience ❤️

Dining room table and 8 chairs refinished and delivered to my client ! 😍
Here are 4 of the 8 dining chairs I refinished for my client! If you've ever refinished a chair, you know it can be an extremely grueling process. After a thorough cleaning and inspection, I noticed the original finish was failing and chipping away in many areas so I removed about 90% of it with sanding. I recolored the wood to blend in all the areas that were sanded bare. I then sealed with a dewaxed shellac and lightly sanded again before painting in benjamin moore "white chocolate" I like to use an additive in my paints when doing distressed finishes as it allows me sand out the paint easier. The chair seats were all stripped and stained in a custom mix of "sunbleached" and "barrel brown" giving me the most perfect warm grey that perfectly complements my clients dining room. :-)
Stay tuned for pictures of the matching dining table tomorrow !!!
Ok so not really furniture related but I felt it worthy of a share here :-) I've been blessed to have the pleasure of this big guy/gal hanging out on my workshop door ALL DAY! I've never seen a moth like this before. It's called a Cecropia silk moth. It's wing span is approx 7" :-o I feel like it may be at the end of It's life span as I walked in and out of the door many times and it never budged. It finally opened up its wings for me and I got this amazing shot! What an absolute beautiful creature to grace my presence on this annoyingly hot day ❤️
This just really warmed my heart today to get this card. I really have the best clients and I'm so grateful to be able to do what I do. I absolutly love this work and it's very rewarding. Thank you to you all for supporting my dream over the years. ❤️❤️❤️
Just finished up this antique tall chest for my client ! 😍
The bleed on this piece was like nothing I ever experienced before. My first coat of primer turned the entire thing pink !! I've dealt with bleed through from tannins and previous dyed wood many times but never to this extent. The original finsish was failing in many areas so i first decided to remove it. Therefor exposing the natural wood and what was left of the old dye stain. I suspected i would battle some bleed but this was just a whole new level!!! Ultimately I ended up doing 6 coats of shellac primer before being able to paint. 😅
I used benjamin moore advance satin in color Swiss coffee. The handles were brass plated copper and had many spots where the brass was worn through so we opted to paint in warm gold. We did cut a piece of wood to replace some missing trim. In the end it is absolute perfection :-)
Last but not least! I'll combine these pieces. I like to take a lot of pictures so figured better to divide this set up in multiple posts :-)
The 2 nightstands got the same treatment with adding the new bases now making them sit much taller! The original bases were actually constructed way different on these than they were on the 2 dressers. So being they are not as heavy, and the wood was much thicker on the bottom, we didn't need to add the 1x4 new foundation. The king sized head board was also part of the original vintage Hertiage set. My client ordered a new wood bed frame and had it shipped to me to be painted to match. We attached the one board on the new frame to the headboard so now it has a whole new frame!! I cannot wait to see these pieces all set up in their new home 😍
Tonight I present the second piece of a 6 piece vintage Heritage bedroom set I refinished for my client! As with the first dresser, in order to modernize the piece as well as give it more height, I started by removing the original base in order for the new base to be attached. My husband first added a new foundation with 1x4's under the bottom in order to give this large dresser the best support for the new base and feet to be put on. Sadly my phone didn't save my before picture so I used a picture after I stripped and darkened the wood color before sealing and painting in BM Onyx black :-) All original hardware was sprayed in metallic dark bronze. Stay tuned tomorrow for the nightsands 😍
Finished up this week with the completion of a 6 piece vintage Heritage bedroom set 😍 So tonight I first present the tall gentleman's chest. :-) This set is being passed down through family and my client came to me for a much needed updated look! She wanted the original bases removed but also wanted them to stand taller. The original plan was to add feet but after removing the original bases, we lost a bit of height and we didn't feel there was enough stability to just add tall feet. So after doing a little research we came up with this new base plan that my husband Bill got to work on building. ❤️ He first added a new support with 1x4's around the entire bottom so the new base could be attached to that. I was super impressed with how this just really modernized the pieces. We all decided on leave the bases and feet a stained wood color to add some contrast to the black. I have zero patience for sanding a laquer finish so I ended up removing it with laquer thinner and then I darkened the wood color a little before sealing and painting in BM Onxy black. I did a heavy distressing to give this a black washed look and refinished all the existing hardware in dark bronze. Each piece now sits approx 5" taller than they originally did! Mission accomplished !!
Stay tuned for the next piece I'll be posting tomorrow :-)
Wrapping up this vintage Heritage 5 piece bedroom set. My client didn't like the original bases but also wanted everything raised up taller so after some research to come up with the right plan, we decided to build all knew bases with feet. I found this plan originally designed by The DIY Wife (credit where credit is due, couldn't find a tag)
We made some alterations by adding 1x4"s to the bases of each piece first to give it a stronger more stable area to attach the new base. We then built the new bases along with slightly recessing the feet. We also added a board on the back of each base to give this the best support for these insanely heavy solid wood pieces! Stay tuned for the final results :-)
My client aquired these mid century modern nesting tables made by Russel Wright for Conant Ball furniture makers. She wanted them restored to their original glory. They were in pretty bad shape along with a chipping black laquer paint and tons of water damage. The top of the large table was completely separated. After stripping off all the old paint I treated with 3+ coats of oxalic acid to get all the water stains out. After a good sanding I put them all back together, repairing the tops and securing the feet back on. There was a moderate amount of warping and the boards were separated at the seams on 2 of the tables. After gluing and clamping I filled the rest of the seams with Mohawks 2 part epoxy putty in natural cherry and it was a perfect match ! ❤️ I finished in a clear laquer top coat to keep them looking how they likely originally did 60 years ago :-) Amazingly, they all nest together still after a little tweaking!!

Here is an antique bolt and screw cabinet made by The American Bolt and Screw Case Co. Circa 1880/1903.
My client found this at a yardsale, it was obviously stored improperly for a long time and so she came to me with this piece for a good cleaning, repairs and polish. However as I was getting into it I couldn't help my self to do a little extra. As I was cleaning I uncovered a lot of issues with the old finish and opted to remove most of it. I left the 80 drawers as is, just cleaned and applied a new coat of shellac. I repaired a bunch of the drawers along with the drawer trays. I cut 2 new ones as one was missing and one no longer fit after all the warping. I did 3 heavy cleans inside and out on the entire frame after stripping it. I then clouded the inside in 3 coats of shellac to tone down the smell. I kept coating in shellac until I no longer smelled it when I walked into my workshop 🤣 I sanded the entire frame and stained with a dark walnut wood stain to keep the color close to what it was orinally. I then sealed with a shellac sanding sealer and applied a few coats of polyurethane. There were a few k***s missing and after struggling to find ones that matched, a woodworker friend in GA thankfully was able to make them for me. Britta Patellis Woodcarving is amazing !!! I'm very happy with how it turned out :-)

Doing my yearly purge of paints and products that still have use but I no longer use. Perfect for a furniture flipper or hobbyist. Lots of chalk paints and regular paints, materials to make your own chalk paints, some spray paints, lots of sample sizes ..... All are open and used and still good. I didn't check every container but I threw out the obvious dried up stuff. I'm going through more tomorrow so whatever else I find I'll add to the pile. This is first come as it will be waiting outside.

A few weeks ago, I dove head first into 8 pieces of furniture. 😄 finally making headway and finishing up a couple pieces that I'll post about soon. But for now, some of you know, but for those that don't, 9 years ago, we bought a foreclose in northeastern Pennsylvania. Most people that saw it said we were absolutely CRAZY! It was one 2600 sq ft house along with a 900 sq ft cottage on near 2 acres of property in the middle of 5,000 acres of state game land. And they were in BAD shape! We had a 5 year plan at the time to do the renovations and move there full time. Clearly, it's taken us a lot longer, and in hindsight, I wish I had shared the journey with you over the years. We've been going every other weekend to spend time working and renovating. We still have so far to go, but we do spend time relaxing on the river every now and then 😁 but it's never too late, so over the past month we spent our weekends replacing the siding, adding 3.5 feet of stacked stone (to battle the porcupines), trimmed out the new windows and paint. The stacked stone was super messy and not something I really ever want to do again 🤣 but it was so worth it! I would love to share with you our DIY renovations more in the future :-)
I'm slowly working on a set of night stands that need a TON of work !! I wanted to go outside my comfort zone and paint them something other than white 🤣 I found this color and fell IN LOVE with it! It's not green green, but it's not too gray....and looks amazing paired with lighter or darker woods... What's the major consensus on this color??? It will be paired with new hardwood stained tops and possibly stained bun feet. :-)
Do you like it?
Weeeeeeeeee! There are approx 75 little drawers in this one! 😅 I actually tried to count and lost count and didn't feel like doing it again !! 🤣
My client found this beauty at a yard sale but it was in dire need of a good cleaning and repair work. I spent the day doing a good heavy clean along with many repairs. Tomorrow I'll be coating the drawers with shellac to shine them up and take care of the rest of repairs. I opted to refinish the top cause when I tried to clean it, it gummed up and left a sticky residue. This is likely the cause of old shellac paired with numerous varnishes over the years and lots of gunk! It was like trying to clean motor oil mixed with peanut butter 🤣
Anyways...tomorrow is another day :-)
Dining table finished up for my client! This is an antique curly maple veneered table which had been well loved over the years! One of pieces of trim on the apron was badly chewed by a dog and I started with rebuilding it with Mohawks 2 part epoxy putty. In the end it probably would have been easier and faster to just cut a new piece but I was already too invested at that point 🤣 but I think it came out near perfection and you would never be able to tell after it was painted. The base was painted in BM Onyx (black) and distressed. The top was bleached out with a 2 part wood bleach to leave a nice light natural wood look. Finished with a water based polycrylic top coat to keep it as light as possible but still give it durability. This table has a lot of character and I'm happy I was able to give it an updated look for my client allowing many more years of use for the next generation in this family :-)
Antique buffet/sideboard refinished for my client 😍❤️
This one got a complete overhaul! I stripped it down and was left with an enormous amount of oxidation in the wood (graying from age) so first I coated with oxalic acid (which is literally magical stuff) and then I opted to use a 2 part wood bleach to even out the color with the different woods and veneers that were used. We then decided on 2 coats of weather wash in rustic brown! I sealed with a coat of dewaxed shellac and finished with a satin polyurethane top coat for durability. What a unique piece! Look at those hinges and door pulls !!!! :-O first time I've ever seen anything like them. I opted to leave them all as is cause they had a beautiful rustic patina to them. I added new k***s for the drawers and touched them up to match with everything else. :-)
For sale: $600.00
I came across this vintage Ethan Allen hexagon dining table and was super psyched about it! I've done so many round tables before but something really cought my eye with this one! The shape, the base...so interesting and different! This table was stained a dark dark brown color so I sat on it for about a year before the inspiration came to me with what I wanted to do. Being a perfectionist makes it difficult to do rustic imperfect finishes on pieces so I used this piece as a learning tool. A way to set aside achieving perfection and to allow the table to have a rustic perfectly imperfect finish. This is bleached maple with a layering of glazes, polyurethane top coat and finished with a white wax.

Spent the last week upstate working on our house there! This April puts us 9 years in on the renovations and we still have so far to go!!! 😓 But... I got a chance to finish up this Maple antique washstand for my client nearby in upstate, NY while we were there. 😍
I had this beauty along with another piece to work on throughout the winter so I spent a little time here and there on them between jobs. About a month or so ago I finished this piece up and I was less than satisfied with how it came out. It seemed this wood just did NOT want to be stained !!! It was blotchy as all hell and I was totally stumped on what to do! I decided to start I was gonna compeley redo it because I was so determined to get it just right! After ordering and trying multiple products with nothing working, I remembered a few years back when I wanted Clockwork Vintage to go more green with products...I had ordered some stains by Ecos (that at the time I wasn't really happy with) so i had put them aside, but on a whim, I said, I wonder how they would work with this unstainable blotchy wood...and MY GOD!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! It compelety transformed this piece! The richness in the color is so amazing and it even somehow masked all the imperfections in the wood that a normal oil based stain would make stick out like a sore thumb! So I think after this, I will be transitioning over to Ecos water based, earth friendly, zero voc wood stains. This one is in the color "Fallen leaves" Absolute perfection ❤️❤️❤️
