If there’s one piece of advice I could give to my future brides out there thinking about starting their honeymoon planning it’s this — don’t plan an itinerary that’s too intense!

That is until you consider a few things:

Time and Duration. How soon after the wedding are you planning to go on your honeymoon and how long will you be away?
If it’s right after the wedding day, you may want to consider a more laid back itinerary that gives you space to combat the wedding planning exhaustion. If you're waiting a while and have a longer trip planned you'll have time to schedule more activities and adventure. If you're like me you can opt for a quick relaxing mini-moon right after your wedding and a longer more adventurous honeymoon later!

The next thing you want to consider is how adventurous are you normally on your travels? It’s tempting to choose an exotic destination and plan in a full itinerary to make the most of it but don’t pack in so much that you’re not getting the vacation experience you truly want in your heart of hearts. This is a once in a lifetime trip but that doesn't meant it should be so far out of your comfort zone you won't actually enjoy it together.

And lastly, think about what you and your partner really want. Maybe your good friends spent a week hopping through the Hawaiian islands, or trekking through the rainforest in Bali, and it all sounds amazing. But no honeymoon is a one size fits all, so think about how much adventure you truly want in yours.

This international couple used the bride collection of scarves from around the world and lanterns to create their ceremony backdrop.
