✅ Look for a ni**le shape with a GRADUAL SLOPE that promote a wide latch. When babies latch to a bottle we went to replicate what they do at the breast…..a wide and deep latch!

Tips for Breastfeeding 🤱 a newborn

1. Start with a calm alert baby. ✅
2. Unswaddle baby. ✅
3. Keep baby in just a diaper, skin to skin. ✅
4. Tummy to tummy, babies nose lined with your ni**le. ✅
5. Bring baby to your breast. DO NOT bring breast to baby. ✅

Early intervention and problem solving is so important in breastfeeding. I saw this mama day 4 postpartum. Baby lost some weight and this family needed a new plan. So we are working closely to get moms milk properly stimulated and baby is back to gaining weight. We will be working closely over the next couple weeks to help this family reach their goals!

Tummy time starts at birth and if your newborn is “really strong” and trying to roll over. That’s tension. Newborns should be soft and squishy. Let’s chat and set up a body work/tummy time session and let’s check oral function! This is not just for breastfeeding babies. All babies could benefit, if they are showing signs of tension!
