Members from attended the 38th Annual Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service on Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The IAF added the name of 306 fallen fire fighters from the United States and Canada to the Wall of Honor. The IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial honors the sacrifice made by IAFF members who have given their lives in the line of duty. Don’t miss out!

We have been waiting a very long time to announce this officially.

On Saturday January 11th, 2025, the Seattle Thunderbirds will be hosting a First Responder Appreciation Night. They have invited us to play our charity hockey game the same day. For this event we are bringing a Police Vs Fire Charity Hockey game back to the South Puget Sound area. The Puget Sound Fire/EMS Hockey Club will take on the South Sound LawDogs out of Pierce County.

Purchasing a ticket will get you into the charity hockey game as well as the Thunderbirds Vs Silvertips later that evening. Tickets are being offered at the group rate of $33.45 which includes the processing fee.

If you purchase a ticket using one of the charity team links a portion of that ticket cost will go back to the selected charity. We are also having a little competition to see which team can sell the most tickets.
Here are the links:

We have a lot planned for this event and throughout the next couple months we will be sharing all that information on our Face Book pages. We have planned giveaways, auctions, souvenirs and even our own Chuck a Puck Event. During the charity hockey game itself, all funds raised will go to both charities that we have partnered with.

We are also working with Puget Sound Fire, Kent Police Department and Pierce County Sheriff's Department to bring even more to the event that we can share with the fans.

Thank you for your support and please help us spread the word for this event!

We will never forget.
Because… we’re still counting…

… over 33,000 police officers, firefighters, responders, and community members have been treated for injuries and sickness related to the 9/11 attacks in New York City, including respiratory conditions, mental health problems like PTSD and depression, gastrointestinal conditions, and at least 4,166 cases of cancer; according to one advocacy group “more cops have died of illness linked to the attack than had perished in it”
377 members of the NYPD have died from fatal 9/11-related illnesses in the years since the attack, according to the department, more than 16 times the number who died in the line of duty as they responded to the attacks .

The FBI’s Wall of Honor recognizes 27 employees who died of health complications following the attacks at the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon. Two FBI employees died that day, FBI Director Christopher Wray said in 2022.

In the 23 years since the Towers fell, first responders and others have been diagnosed with cancer and other diseases from toxic dust exposure at and near Ground Zero.

Your members creates the PSFFF (Puget Sound Firefighter Foundation) after our name change, it was formerly the . This Foundation is foundered by our members to directly help out folks in the communities we serve. It’s not all about pickle ball and lunches but these are some of the fun events!

You may have seen some recent posts on social media about locking their Firefighters ( ) out work sites around Washington State on May 4th. The firefighters were and are still willing to keep staffing the stations during negotiations, after they voted against a offer that would pay them 20% less than other departments in the area, and take 19 years to reach the top pay step vs the 3 it takes for our firefighters. But Boeing said pack your bags.

Coincidentally May 4th was also International Firefighters’ Day.

What does this mean for your Puget Sound Firefighters?

When Boeing can’t handle an emergency response internally (they are now staffing 2 person engines with out of state replacements vs the 4 person staffing they were contracted to operate), our automatic aid contracts go into effect and we will be dispatched to handle these emergencies as the primary resource. This is the same for all the surrounding departments in the area.

The bottom line is that your tax dollars are subsiding a corporation that has picked a fight with its workers!

Your local firefighters and union workers are going to be joining Boeing Firefighters on the picket lines and also donating to their strike fund to help support the out of work firefighters. Give us a honk and a wave when you see us out there.

Your alongside firefighters are battling a multi alarm fire in the Kent valley.
Storage units are always hard to fight because of access, construction, and who knows what is inside the units!
This first picture is the truckie working on a “strip cut”. This type of strategy is where our specialty truck assigned firefighters cut a large strip across the whole structure. This “hole” becomes a vent for the hot gasses and heat drawing the fire toward the hole and letting it exhaust out saving the other parts of the building. Plus it gives the firefighters on hose lines time to apply more water to put out the fire. It’s a lot of coordinated work and very people power intensive.
If you check out our stories you’ll see a shared post of the aftermath. It’s going to be a long evening of clean up and checking for hot spots.

Last night members of responded to 3 fires in south king county including this residential fire on the east hill. The majority of the household was able to evacuate due to working smoke alarms. One resident was rescued off the roof by crews.
A good reminder to check your smoke detectors and replace the batteries.
