On a leveled and compacted stone base we built a pressure treated platform, framed the walls and roof.
To give extra headroom the roof pitch was raised to a steeper 9/12 pitch along with full 8 foot walls and cathedral ceiling.
CertainTeed siding wrapped the outside walls and a GAF Timberline roof topped this one off along with covering all the fascia and rake ends with aluminum.
A 6 panel Masonite steel door and VinylMax window gave access and some light to the inside space.

Rebuilt one frame to accept a standard sized door. The remaining 2 doors were cut to fit the existing frames.

Custom Flat Sawn Cedar Porch Railings
Designed and custom fabricated these beautiful railings that were installed on a historic 1880's home.
The design process took several weeks with many different designs being submitted before settling on the final choice.
Each design was laid out, designed and hand cut before being submitted for final approval. One challenge was the height of the railing had to be no higher than 24 inches from floor level in the finish. To gain so much detail in a short baluster was a challenge.
The request was to replicate a near period but Key West inspired porch railing. Our clients were awestruck with the final result.
Each individual baluster was hand cut from cedar planks that were milled to size and planed to the same thickness. Hand sanded and priming with 2 coats of exterior grade primer was followed by several top coats of white semi-gloss.
The top and bottom rails were fabricated out of treated lumber and the balusters were set into channels that were milled into each.
Final installation on site included repairing the bottoms of the rotted porch posts with new treated lumber. Each post was milled on site to the size width and detail as the previous posts.
Everything was sanded, spot primed and final paint coated on site to finish up this project.
What a transformation these new railings make to the front of this home! There will not be another home in the area with similar railings since these are a one off production and design.

Not a glamorous project but adds to much needed storage space that was going to waste in this previously unusable attic.
