Manhattan College cut the ribbon Thursday morning on their new Higgins Engineering and Science Center which will greatly increase the facilities available to education students at their campus in the Riverdale section of the Bronx in NYC.
We spoke with Manhattan president Dr. Brennan O'Donnell about the tradition of science education going back over 100 years at the school, resources that will be available to students and the leadership of benefactors Patricia and Cornelius J. Higgins'62.
After graduating from Manhattan, Dr. Higgins served in the United States Air Force as a officer with time spent in Taiwan and Vietnam. He studied at the Air Force Institute of Technology and earned both a Ph.D. and MBA from The University of New Mexico. He went on to found Applied Research Associates Inc. a national engineering and science firm based in New Mexico.
Patricia G. Higgins served twenty years on the faculty of the University of New Mexico rising to full professor specializing in maternal child nursing. A registered nurse, she received a PH.D. from University of New Mexico in 1984.
