more insight into themselves and actualize their full potential. Deena is a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society, and is a certified mediator. She has bachelor’s degrees in English, Psychology, and Sociology from Iowa State University, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. Deena opened a practice within 5th Street Mental Health Professionals in Ames, IA in September, 2014. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Deena took her practice online. Now in December, 2022, she opened a new office on Main Street in Zearing, IA. enjoys working with adolescents and adults, and uses techniques such as art therapy, soul writing, and emotion-focused therapy to help clients get to the heart of their issues and work toward mastery in their lives. Deena also works with couples and families to reduce conflict and strengthen emotional connection to one another. Deena’s techniques are both eclectic and holistic. Clients are encouraged to maintain a daily self-care routine, and to begin some sort of mindfulness practice. She provides a warm, home-like atmosphere for clients, and holds deep appreciation and respect for the sanctity of the therapeutic relationship. Deena’s hours are as follows:
