Did you know that many midwife practices have a policy that they will never attend a birth without a birth assistant present? 😊
This is because having an assistant lowers the work dramatically for the midwife, it offers a second opinion, makes duties go faster, and can even relieve the lead midwife for a power nap for those unusually longer births.

We are seeing more and more people choosing out of hospital births every year for several years now. Out of hospital births are going to keep growing; I don’t believe this is just a “trend” at all. 🥳

Families are falling in love with the empowerment, choices, education, intentional care and are realizing they don’t have to keep birthing in the cold hospitals. (What a relief right?😅)

Some much needed time with family and the ocean🌊
Going on a trip though is SO much work.
I think of those labors that these mamas work so hard and get just about ready to push their baby out, 80% done, then their labors slow down a bit and it takes longer than any of us saw coming....this is exactly how packing is for me. Every time.

Have a happy weekend friends😘

Preparing to welcome a baby and preparing your body for birth can feel like a lot. At the end of my pregnancies I always begin to feel busy and simultaneously my excitement grows to meet this human.

My course is designed to lessen your overwhelm and increase your enjoyment and positive outcomes.
The course is filled with satisfying checklists and all the information you need to know in one simple spot.

These last few weeks of such intentionality will soon transition to staying home and snuggling that sweet baby of yours. Before you know it you will be gazing into their eyes wondering what you ever did before you two were together.

For now I get to watch you wiggle in my belly, warm in the bath. ♥️

When I was a midwifery student one of the midwives I got to learn from had a daily lunch time workout class that she offered at her office.
All of us birth workers would do that daily workout class with the attending clients. This was optional for them. I always loved this chance to watch these women, whose birth I would be attending, push themselves and see their strength. Getting to do it with them I felt created this comradery of humanity like, “I have weakness and you have weakness but let's together challenge our weaknesses and see what strength we have hidden”.

Even though she hasn't met them, she knows that this baby is worth every moment of labor. Women amaze me.

Birth Room Vibes

What were some of your "must haves" when pulling together your birthing environment?
Mine were "correct" mood lighting, Norther Lights Young Living Essential Oils (which is interesting because it's actually not a feminine smell, it's quite masculine but I LOVED it), and chill music.
