During my Summer Empowerment Camp, the girls were given a creative assignment, in which they were to come up with a skit that focused on the topics we discussed during the camp.
‘Girl in Mirror’ is one they came up with and they did such a great job with it.
Oh and check out my camera and editing work. First time behind the camera! What do you think?

Girl In The Mirror: Presented by 1st Lady Empowerment Foundation, Inc. Short Skit/Film about how negative thinking can effect your self-esteem. Created by Adolescent Girls in a Summer Empowerment Camp, sponsored by 1st Lady Empo...
Wow! What a week!!
We had an amazing time last week during our annual summer empowerment camp and we hope that we made a positive impact on those that attended that will live on for years to come.
Here’s what camp was all about:
- The ladies started each day with positive affirmations, using the ‘I Have Value & Worth Affirmations Book written by me.
- They wrote in our journals in the morning and at the end of the day to summarize their day and feelings.
- They gave affirmations to each other as a way of finding the good in others and being kind. This also teaches them that it’s okay to celebrate others, even when it’s not your time.
- They learned the 1st Lady Creed. I Have Value and I Have Worth. I designed a puzzle for a good reminder.
- The camp inspired the girls with the skills and knowledge they need to become poised, confident, and courteous. As part of the camp, we teamed up with Contessa Jackson who curated The Royal Experience in which the girls participated in fun and engaging group activities and learned about etiquette, communication skills, self-confidence.
- They created and designed their own digital vision boards.
- They wrote and acted in their own skits (short film) The task was to come up with a skit that surrounded any of the self-esteem/empowerment topics discussed during the week.
If all the editing goes well, 🙏🏽 they will be released on social media platforms.
- We went bowling and went to see The Little Mermaid. (It watched some of us 😂)
Here are some pictures from the camp for you to enjoy.
