A gilt GMT has always been on the top of our grail list. The Golden lettering floating beneath the negative black lacquer relief creates tremendous depth. Rolex transitioned away from the gloss gilt dials for this reference after 1966 and issued matte dials on their sport model watches all the way through 1982-83. By 1984, the gloss dial had been reintroduced where it remains today however this modern gloss dials no longer has the golden gilt lettering underneath the dial. These late 50’s - mid 60’s dials are the best Rolex has ever made.

We would love to be able to say every great find is discovered by us in a remote farm in Tennessee, however watch hunting is never as glamorous as it seems nor is it shooting fish in a bucket. This gorgeous 16750 was uncovered by our good friend Tim . Please read his description below as to the Four-Star General Bernard Rogers that owned this before. There is no specific provenance that accompanies this watch however regardless if Elvis owned it, it is an unpolished 10/10 16750 in our opinion.

From :

We all love watches with history and this one is really special. Purchased directly from the grandson, this GMT belonged to Army Chief of Staff and Four-star General Bernard Rogers. Gen. Rogers was not only one of the highest ranking members of our Miltary he was also appointed Supreme Allied Commander Europe, overseeing all NATO forces in Western Europe during the height of the Cold War. To think this bad ass watch was likely in meetings at the Oval Office and Pentagon is pretty epic.

The #1655 to us is such an oddball from Rolex. A huge orange 24hr hand and busy hash markers seem like a departure from the more simplistic designs if the rest of their lineup, however looking at this Explorerii today its clearly gone under appreciated and worthy of being a unique launch. This print is nearly all gone. Be sure to check out on this link to be able to order from . https://asenegp.squarespace.com/

Although not a , the #16570 offers a true local/home time capabilities due to its independent jumping hour hand. Keep track of the local time with the traditional hour hand and keep track of home with the 24hr hand.

The matte dial variant of the 16800 Submariner transitioned the Submariner out of using matte dials and back to glossy dials. These early 16800 Subs are not only rare but look spectacular when they are paired with a modern looking and feeling sapphire glass and a ghost faded insert. #5513 #1680 #5512 #16800 #16610 # #14060 #114060 #124060 #16808 #16618

We are typically not known to stock modern Rolex models, however we like to look ahead and speculate on future classics on the horizon. Neo vintage Rolex’s (80’s-90’s) are already 20-30 years old and their prices have crept up as scarcity for these tritium references are hard to come by. Launched in 2007, the 116710LN (Lunette Noir) GMT was the first ceramic GMT. By this coming year 2023 it will have been nearly 16 years since its launch. Now, there has been a hype watch that just launched this year, another green and black GMT variant, the destro left handed “sprite” GMT. These watches are selling for nearly $70k at launch. Now if you are the hype kid that drives the latest Lambo and needs to flex on the poor then by all means grab that watch. We think its about time the Noir GMT deserved a spotlight away from its more popular siblings , and because of its subtleness this has become our favorite modern steel GMT.
