High Sierra Squadron of the CAF

Sat October 12th right after our squadron meeting, Colonels Rick and Dwayne held training classes on aircraft repair for our Cadets. Rick's was on plastic parts repair and Dwayne's on replacement of ELT battery.
Even just one Blue Angel jet can cover the sound of our Navy N3N w/985 super charged startup.

One of our High Sierra Squadron Pilots recently acquired this 1941 Navy T-6 Trainer. We are looking forward to T-6 time in this WW2 Advanced Trainer.

Col. Josh Chinowsky completed his first solo today for his Sport Pilot rating in a Light Sport Sling aircraft. Josh started as a cadet 5 years ago with our High Sierra Squadron and is currently going to College, working as an aircraft mechanic towards his A&P license and working towards his Sport Pilot certificate.

High Sierra Squadron is located at the Stead Airport in North Reno. We have a 1941 Navy N3N Biplane and a 1957 Cessna L19 Birddog.
Contact us at — [email protected], or come out and see our aircraft on Tuesday or Thursday Mornings from 0830 until 1100. Our hangar is at the west end of the Bleachers, then turn left and go to the end, our sign is on the hangar.
We have our First Saturday Open Hangar event this Saturday April 27 starting at 0900 until 1200.
Come out to see the L19 opened up. Come out see they N3N. Come out for the BBQ. Come out to meet some new people.

Pulled #5 cylinder on the L19,, broken ring 😞. We will pull #3 on tuesday , we know it has a deteriorating exhaust valve 😞 thankfully we have sourced replacement cylinders that can be shipped in a few days 🙂 and the best part part is a few loyal supporters have committed to helping pay for the repairs 🙂 🙂 🙂
