Ever tried a quinoa fruit salad!? 🥗

If not, here's your chance! It's an easy one to make, and is the perfect twist to a traditional fruit salad.

Here's why I love the key ingredients to this salad:

Quinoa: Known as a "super grain," quinoa is actually a seed and a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids that our bodies cannot produce on their own. It's also high in fiber and gluten-free, making it a fantastic option for almost everyone.

Fruits: Toss in a mix of strawberries, kiwi, blueberries and mango. Not only do they add a natural sweetness and refreshing taste , but they are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. These nutrients are crucial for maintaining a healthy immune system and skin health.

Dressing: A lemon-honey dressing not only enhances the flavor but also offers its own benefits, like supporting digestion and providing a touch of natural sweetness without the need for refined sugars.

Whether you're looking for a light lunch or a nutritious side dish, this Quinoa Fruit Salad is your go-to. It's easy to assemble – just cook the quinoa, chop the fruits, and toss everything with the dressing. Your nutritional meal is ready in no time!

Honey

✔️ 2 cups water
✔️ 1/8 tsp salt

Do you have low or high ?

If you're diving into the world of , whether for health monitoring, fitness goals, or managing conditions like low testosterone, these hormone and gut markers are important to include along with testosterone in your lab workup.

Progesterone: In men, progesterone is a marker for adrenal health. Low # progesterone significantly impacts a man's ability to produce testosterone.

Cortisol: Chronically high stress levels can keep cortisol levels high which in turns can lead to weight gain and impacts the body's ability to produce testosterone. Weight around the middle increases the process known as aromatization which ramps up conversion of testosterone to estrogen which is no bueno for men.

Estradiol: It's important to monitor estrogen hormones as they can compete with testosterone and be a signal of blood sugar imbalances.

Blood Sugar Markers: In my Live Workshop Series on testosterone imbalances I dedicated an entire workshop to this topic. Needless to say - managing blood sugar is key to leveling up testosterone! Missed the workshop? I'm happy to send it to you. Message me for the recording.

DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate): This precursor to testosterone gives insight into adrenal gland function. When the adrenals are worn out, this impacts testosterone production.

Beta-glucuronidase: This is a marker found on a stool test. When beta-glucuronidase levels increase, this enzyme can deconjugate estrogen intended for elimination, allowing that estrogen to be reabsorbed and thus increase the overall estrogen load in the body.

I run all of these tests in my practice, and I find that they allow me to get to the root of the issue rather than manage symptoms.

According to one recent study by the Cleveland Clinic, close to 60 percent of men don't regularly see a doctor, and go only when they are seriously ill. The survey found that only three in five men get annual physicals and nearly half of the 500 men surveyed said their health is simply something they don't talk about.

❗ Gut health doesn’t have to be complicated. Testing your gut microbiome for imbalances can help to simplify the process. I use the GI Map in my practice which provides this information:

✔️Presence of “bad guys” parasites, candida and opportunistic bacteria which can create significant symptoms like gas, bloating, diarrhea and constipation. When left unattended, these bad guys can kill off the “good guys” and lead to chronic nutrient absorption issues.

✔️Presence of “good guys” AKA probiotics. The good guys keep the bad guys at bay, support the immune system and maintain the integrity of the gut lining, thus preventing the development of food sensitivities.

✔️How well your body is digesting fat.

✔️How well your body is digesting protein.

✔️How well your immune system is functioning.

✔️ How well your colon is functioning.

A great make-ahead recipe for the days when you don't have the time to make a home cooked meal! Easy to freeze and warm up when you need it

Baked Chicken Cacciatore

Ingredients:
6 chicken thighs, bone-in with skin
1 Tbs oregano
salt and pepper, to taste
1 onion, sliced
1 pepper, sliced
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cups tomato sauce, prepared
1/2 cup green olives

Directions
Prep
1. Season chicken thighs with salt [if desired], pepper, and oregano.
2. Slice onion and pepper.
3. Preheat oven to 375°F.
Make
1. Add olive oil to the bottom of a roasting pan with sides. Add onion and
pepper and stir to coat.
2. Place chicken thighs on top of vegetables and bake for 20 minutes.
3. Remove from oven and add tomato sauce in between chicken thighs
[avoid tops if you want them to remain crispy.]
4. Add olives and return to oven for an additional 10 minutes or until the
thickest part of the chicken thighs reaches an internal temperature of
165°F.
5. Remove from oven and serve.
