My new photo collection, so far over 700 photographs and many more to come, some of the images date back to over half a century.

Finally making progress. For the last several weeks I've been going thru the painstaking process of digitizing and restoring slides and transparencies that go back to my early days of photography, over 50 years ago, as well as sorting out my hard drives with thousand of images from the early days of digital imaging all the way to current technology. It was a shame to just keeping all those images, some of historic value, just staying there doing nothing (you really feel old when some of your early photography actually has historic value).
Also, some of these photographs are actually still frames from videos. With high definition videos and current technology photography and videography are slowly merging into one.
This is my first posting in Fine Art America, so far over 700 photos and many more sites and photos to follow.

Although video productions has been my career, my first love was and still is photography. For the past several months I've been organizing thousands of new and old photographs, they were just wasted in my hard drives, I'm also restoring some from my early photojournalistic assignments that go back over 50 years, same with historical value. To make things even more interesting I have been experimenting with AI technology (imagine an old fart like me experimenting with AI?) trying to give my work a new look, and I love it. My first step to display my work (and hopefully some merchandising) was to join Fine Art America, so far I have over 300 photographs in 6 diverse collections, please look at them and any input is very welcomed. https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/1-anthony-giannotti?tab=artworkgalleries
In the process of digitizing boxes of old slides and transparencies from assignments going back over 50 years.
This is skinny me in 1973 on a two weeks photo assignment in Hong Kong, with our local crew and guide.
Of course I wanted to try local cuisine specialties but knowing well what Chinese also eat I told my guide that I love pets so please make sure I don't get one for dinner.
Something that's keeping me really busy in my mostly-retirement is going thru, organizing and archiving over 5 decades of work. One of the best assignments I had was early in my career in Hong Kong as a photojournalist doing fascinating stories about the no longer existing boat people. I'm looking at hundreds of photographs that I took back then in HK and China, most of the work was black and white with some occasional color images. Some of the images suffer from aging, rightfully so because that's true history.
I also started a new FB page to post many of the images I was fortunate to be there and photograph during my career.

Two days of interviews for WWE Royal Ramble. We scavenged everything we found useful around the hotel, even food carts. The first shot is a kitchen floor mat with Nanlite PavoTube behind it. Ten lights for this set up, 6 just on the background.
To say that I’m an animal lover is an understatement, my kids nicknamed me Dr. Dolittle. For many years I've been donating a good portion of my time and services to many worthwhile organizations, but my favorite have always been those that deal with one of my favorite animals, dogs, especially those organizations that train guide dogs for the blind, dog companionship for veterans suffering from PTSD and also K9 police training dogs. For me donating my time has always been personally rewarding, however, my involvement with these organization has led to many good paid assignments, including with my favorite, Animal Planet.

Sunsets and more sunsets.
If you live on the west coast of Florida guaranteed that you can get incredible photos and videos of sunsets, and every producer and broadcasters know about it. Just about every documentary and features, as well as sport programs will ask for some sunset shots, as well as palm trees and alligators, all Florida stuff. Of course there's no guarantee that you'll travel to a beach and get a great looking sunset, so over the years you learn when to go to the waterfront with your camera and get footage and stills so you can have them when needed, and I have hundreds of both stills and videos, all very generic. Beside being a fun thing to do, they also generate some revenue and make producers very happy.
Most of these are stills from videos.
The stuff you find when going thru old hard drives.
I got a call, almost 20 years ago, to do a quick interview with two celebrities, no name given. Very casual look, nothing formal. I set up the shot in a suite in a 5 stars hotel in Orlando and in come 2 of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson and Bruce Johnston (I think). Both very very cordial. At the end of the interview they asked me where I was from, my Italian accent gave me away, when they found out I was born in Italy they started a long conversation with me about Italy, and that they were looking for a place to buy vacation homes. Of course I told them that I grew up poor and wherever they can afford to buy a home most likely was a place that growing up I could only dream of.
They were in Ocala for a private concert at someone's house, I ask who was that could afford to have the Beach Boys for a private party and they wouldn't give me the name, so I said, c’mon it had to be Steinbrenner (late George Steinbrenner owner of the Yankees) I knew he owned a horse farm in Ocala because we did an assignment there. They looked at each other and laughed but never gave away the name.
These are still shots from BetacamSP standard definition, for those who worked with those old formats.
Again, going thru years of hard drive storage, this is actually a bit more personal, producer or other in the crew always take pictures of the shoot and often share it with the crews, and sometime I'm in the picture working. Never realized of how many of these pictures I have, I stopped at 400 and I have many and many more to go, and this is only in the last 15 years or since cell phone were also cameras. So many assignments, places and people I worked with, and some that are no longer with us.
Amazing the stuff you find when sorting thru years of hard drives storage.
Over the years I've done dozens of interviews with Tiger Woods, super nice guy to work with, one time he even asked after an interview if he can stay and have lunch with the crew, we had sandwiches brought-in, he needed some peace and quiet before going back outside where everybody was waiting for him. Being a celebrity is not always easy.
These are stills of interviews taken at least 20 years apart. The older one was for the ESPN Classic Sport Century show back in the 90s.
Again, things and memories you find when going thru your hard drives. In my long career probably the one person that brought in the most assignments is unquestionably Tim Tebow. I started doing videos and stills before anyone even knew who Tim was. I spent so much time in Gainesville that clients suggested I get an apartment to eliminate the hustle of hotels. Even after years that Tebow was no longer playing football we were still doing stories on him.
The last pix is one of Tebow's eye black that he wrote biblical verses, he gave to me before one of the games.
The things you find when sorting thru a dozen of hard drives dating back at least 15 years or more. This is a video we did for ESPN The Magazine about former BUCS QB Josh Freeman being transformed as Michael Jackson.
How fast times are changing. For many years the Hyatt Regency was one of our biggest account, just about once a month we traveled across the US, the Caribbeans and South America to make marketing video, until we got tired of traveling and the size and budgets of video started shrinking, they went from over 7 minutes long to less than 2 minutes and then to none. But we enjoyed the assignment and like all good things......
Working on a series of documentaries for a major network, interviews of course are always a major part of the contents.
The stuff you find when going thru old stuff in your many hard drives.
Not sure if anyone still remember the ESPN show GRUDEN QB CAMP, the show started after Coach Jon Gruden got fired from the head coach position at the BUCS that he held for 10 years and also won the team first Super Bowl. Even before the show I did hundreds of assignment about coach Gruden for many networks. One day in 2011 he called me and he needed my input about a new show. I met him and one of the head producer of ESPN in a small office/storefront in the back of an old strip shopping center. The first question I was asked was what I can do with this place, my first answer was “move somewhere else” but that was out of question, the place was minutes away from Gruden’s residence and the show had to be done in this video unfriendly place. This was also a test show so the budget was very small, I got paid well but there was no money for a full crew so I had to wear many hats. The show turned out to be a big success and with every show the budget was getting gradually bigger so I was able to hire more help and expend the look of the set. We did about 10 show each year for 8 years before Gruden returned to coaching. After 4 years we finally outgrew that dumpy place and the show moved to ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World.
Joe and I worked really hard to make the show look good in spite of the location, Gruden and ESPN VP Jay Rothman to show their appreciation surprised us with this video.
More interviews for a new series of documentaries. I used Impact Collapsible 8x10 black background for the first time, easy and fast to put up, just open them up and rest them against the wall, no stands or cross bar needed.
SHOOTING IN FLORIDA?
TRAVEL LIGHT, LESS STRESS AND SAVE $$$
Now that I limited my working retirement to 2 days a week, I have lots of gear sitting there doing nothing the rest of the week. My light and grip package includes 2 Aputure300, 2 Aputure600, all with medium and large Aputure soft boxes, Litepanels, many fresnels, several LED tube lights, stands, grips, reflectors, flags, backgrounds, diffusers, overheads, and much much more.
For a very reasonable cost I can make your shoot day so much easier. I can send somebody with my van to your site, he’ll stay with you and help with the lights to the end of the day, then help pack and bring everything back home. If there’s anything in particular that you need let me know, most likely I have it, or I’ll get it.
In addition to the lighting package, if needed I also have available a Sony FX9, FX6, A7R5, bunch of Sony lenses, multi-inputs 17” monitor, tripods, cabling, teleprompter, etc. etc.
The things you find when going thru old storage boxes. My first press card as a freelance photographer. Back then I was doing a lot of still photography for many newspapers Sunday magazines.
I was just fascinated by these little creatures. I've seen prairie dogs in zoos but never in the wild, until my recent cross country trip. They're are busy bodies never standing stills for more than a few seconds making any attempt to video or photograph them especially with a long telephoto lens very challenging, add to the challenge the desert like heat and very strong winds, but in my first quick edit of the trip I was able to put something together. I used my Sony A7R5 camera with a Sony 200-600 zoom lens with a 2x converter.
Back in the game. I'm not cut out to be retired, not full time anyway. Trying to limit to 2 days a week, got 5 grandchildren who desperately need Nonno to spoil them.
Although I just finished 6 days straight, so much for the 2 days a week plan. 11 interviews in 4 locations, plus b-roll, and ended the week doing photos and video of a 1.5 million dollars yacht for sale.
I invested in new gear, Sony FX9 for A-cam, Sony FX6 for B-cam, bunch of lenses, Sony A7RV for those moving around b-roll. Plus a few Aputure 300 and 600 lights, and more stuff. The entire package is also available for rent on my days off, affordable and delivered to the site.
It pays to listen and follow doctor's recommendations on how to live a healthy lifestyle, in spite of my age I didn't feel a bit tired and could have kept going.
Very proud to show for the first time a video I just completed about our niece Sue in St.Louis (https://www.suegiannotti.com/.) Sue is an internationally renowned mosaic artist, teacher and lecturer. Beside here at home, her work has been exhibited in Europe and Japan.
Putting my quasi-retirement time to good use. I've been giving my time as volunteer to Disability Dream & Do for a few years now, amazing to see the fun these children and adults have at these events. www.d3day.com
