Just finished completing a one-of-a-kind vintage top. When I received the blocks, they were in disrepair and badly stained. I painstakingly cleaned and repaired the blocks and squared them up using a beige/brown marbled fabric. I then completed the top by placing the blocks 90 degrees opposite of each other. The blocks were hand sewn out of what appears to be men's work shirt cotton and meticulously pieced. A wonderful representation of a vintage top!

More beautiful vintage hand pieced vintage quilt blocks. I cleaned, repaired and squared up to a perfect 12 1/2" square. Lots of feedsack and vintage fabrics. Ready to be sewn into a wonderful patchwork quilt top!

Just finished up another restoration! This beauty is a wonderful 9-patch that I repaired and finished. Excellent example of period fabrics and vintage quilts.

Newest quilt out of the studio. Great fall quilt to keep the chill off and cozy up to the fire (indoors or out!).

I call this one Happy Camper! Great combination of striking and colorful purple, teal and black pok-a-dot fabrics. Each "camper" is framed with a whimsical border fabric. The backing is a bright white that shows off the swirly quilting.

Quilt of the Day! Finished this lil' guy last night. Beautiful lap quilt made entirely out of 1/2 square triangles. Very scrappy and very bright. Quilted in a stipple design with cotton/poly batting for loft.

These hot summer days are giving me a lot of time to spend in the quilting studio. Finished another top I made several years ago. Asian themed with embroidered center squares and quilted in a curvy fern design. Made with 100% cotton batting for the vintage crinkle! NOTE: The yellow shadows are coming from my bedroom lighting. Can't get good light in there! 😊

Another "oldie but goodie"! Finished this beauty yesterday. Vintage strip patchwork quilt. The top still had the brittle and aged newspaper foundation pieces attached. It was also badly out of square, so I had to remove some fabric. I cleaned up the top, fixed some loose seams, added borders to make it queen size and quilted it using 100% cotton batting with a swirly design. It turned out great.

One in a million! I just finished a genuine vintage quilt top! This piece was entirely hand pieced with amazingly even and accurate stitching ( see pics ). I finished the quilt with a vintage cherry blossom quilting design. Like most vintage tops, it was made to fit a full bed, so I added borders to make it queen size. The batting is 100% Cotton from Warm Company, that results in an antique “crinkle” only vintage can provide. Truly a step back in time.

My latest quilting job. Darling and very bright quilt and pillow sham set. It turned out great. I LOVE the color and movement of these pieces! The maker did a wonderful job of piecing!

I wanted to display what I mean when I say repairing, restoring and returning vintage quilts to their original splendor is my passion! This was my last rescue. All the blocks were different sizes and in various degree of disrepair. These blocks could have been disregarded as useless. But look how they turned out. A beautiful vintage lap quilt was created!

Finally... I was able to spend some time in the quilting studio and was able to complete my Winter Wings quilt. Windy day and lots of shadows doesn't allow for the best pics, but I'm really happy with the finished quilt.

It's hard to believe it has been a year since I made my last memory quilt. These are so much fun and quite a challenge! This particular quilt was made from sweaters, evening gowns and tee shirts. It took awhile, but I was able incorporate them all!

The first step in refurbing a vintage quilt top. The muslin squares in top were the color of a manila envelope with hundreds of age spots. Three soaks later it is bright, white and ready to be repaired and finished? It is a dirty job, but the results are amazing!

Photos from Ozark Quilt Lady's post 24/10/2021

Another one finished! It looks like an ordinary patchwork saw tooth star... but look closer! Each fabric is a dachshund print! So much fun to make, and obviously "doxie approved"!

Quilts are the fabric of our world!

Restoration & Repair

Many times our treasured quilts that were used and loved by many are simple too worn to be repaired. But other times, all that is needed is a little skill, craftmanship and loving care to restore these family heirlooms. If you have a quilt that needs restoration, let's talk and see what can be done!

My passion is restoring heirloom quilts to their former status. A few lose stitches or a block recreated and incorporated can bring new life to vintage quilt.

I find joy in finishing and quilting a quilt top or quilt blocks that a family member or friend simply never had time to finish.
