Bakkenson Designs

Elaine Bakkenson learned to Batik in the 70's and produced clothing wall hangings and yardage. Her natural fibers vibrate with color.

Since then she has sold wall hangings to interior design companies in Texas and clothing in a specialty store in Phoenix and Tucson. David Ortega convinced her to step forward. I ordered 100 pounds of white rug yarn which sent me on my journey of dying the fibers for weaving. The inspiration for her designs come from the generations of Spanish rug weavers in New Mexico.
