Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health marked the completion last week of a $182 million expansion of its Lancaster city hospital’s trauma and emergency department.
Begun in December 2020, the project nearly doubled the capacity of the emergency department at the 555 N. Duke St. hospital, giving it 96 beds and the ability to handle 130,000 patient visits annually. The work created 66,000 square feet of new space and a new entrance off Duke Street with a semi-circular patient drop-off.

Women are now advised to get a mammogram every other year starting at age 40 and until age 74, according to new recommendations from the US Preventive Services Task Force.
