A warm welcome to Kristen Canopy, the newest member of our State Airports group!

Although Kristen wanted to be a librarian when she was young, her decision to become an engineer was a move APTech appreciated.

This week, our Commercial Airports and Department of Defense team members from around the country gathered in Waunakee, Wisconsin for a teamwide meeting. Beyond work, the group took time to relax, grab a bite to eat, and catch up with each other on life outside of the office.

Pavement Engineer Jordan Hoekwater, P.E., was out conducting fieldwork in scenic Colorado last week. He is extending his stay in the Centennial state this week at the Colorado Airport Operators Association Spring Conference. Say hi to Jordan if you’re there, too!

With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, APTechers have officially started their summer hours! Every Friday from now until Labor Day, our offices will close at 3 pm so employees can enjoy the sunshine and an early start to the weekend.

Amidst a growing interest in pavement sustainability, Vice President David Peshkin gave a presentation this week at the Northeast Pavement Preservation Partnership Annual Meeting. He discussed APTech’s project with the Federal Highway Administration on using recycled asphalt pavement materials in pavement preservation projects.

Senior Engineers Prashant Ram and Derek Tompkins were in attendance and getting involved in the conversation around the industry’s future research needs. His presentation at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting, "Recycled Asphalt Materials (RAP) for Pavement Preservation: Material Specification, Storage, and Testing" demonstrated his findings on how the ecological material meets required standards for treatment design.
