While PG&E is doing what it can to mitigate the impact, southwest areas of San Joaquin Counties such as Tracy and Mountain House may be impacted should the PSPS occur.
Stanislaus County areas near Diablo Grande may be impacted should PG&E implement PSPS efforts.
Residents may opt to utilize the PG&E address lookup portal to monitor potential impact.

The attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life is absolutely abhorrent. Political violence must be condemned and it has no place in our democracy that we all should hold dear.

As we start this week with extreme heat advisories, I want to be sure folks are aware of cooling stations throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. Keep yourself and your loved ones, including pets, hydrated. And if you have vulnerable neighbors, please check in on them. Let’s help each other through this and do our best to stay patient and kind in what will be a trying week. Below are links to San Joaquin and Stanislaus resources for cooling centers.

I was truly humbled to be honored by the California National Guard yesterday. As an Army Veteran myself, it meant something extra special. To have been able to partner with the Guard in the creation of the Discover Challenge Academy is something for which I will be forever grateful.

I was honored to address and celebrate the 91 graduating cadets of Class 15 of the Discovery Challenge Academy on Saturday morning.
1570 cadets have now completed the voluntary 22 week program which gives young men and women a second chance to get their education, and their lives, back on track. Each cadet earns 65 units of course credit towards their high school degree at DCA, and 15 of the cadets earned enough course credit to graduate high school at today’s ceremony. Since helping establish this program a decade ago, its impact has exceeded my hopes.
I am proud of each and every one of these cadets who have taken on the responsibility of citizenship and leadership. They are tomorrow’s leaders in our community, our state and our nation.

My thanks go out to the men and women of Cal Fire and San Joaquin Office of Emergency Services and especially those on the front lines fighting the Corral Fire. At this time Eastbound 580 from Alameda County to Stanislaus County remains closed and the Larch Clover Community Center in Tracy remains active as an Evacuation point. For more information and to sign up for alerts go to sjready.org
My office is monitoring the Corral Fire southwest of Tracy and Interstate 580. Some 12,500 acres have been burned and evacuation orders are in place south of Tracy. A temporary evacuation site has been established at Larch Clover Community Center at 11157 West Larch Road in Tracy.

The weather is great for this weekend’s opening to Stockton Flavor Fest 2024, and I’m pleased to see the festive and community vibe. The entertainment, food and craft vendors are great. And for me, “Stocks” in Stockton are always bullish!
I was pleased to join Governor Newsom at yesterday’s announcement that he is fast tracking the first $3.3 billion in funding from the recently approved Proposition 1, which will ultimately find nearly $6.4 billion in behavioral health treatment facilities and veteran housing. This measure was long overdue and I am very grateful the Governor is cutting red tape to get initial funds out the door as quickly as possible. Beginning in July, local governments will be able to apply for funds. This quick action will bring help sooner to those who need it most. In addition to the bond funding, Proposition 1 ensures that $1 billion in existing finding will be directed into behavioral health housing. These efforts coupled with other behavioral health reforms including Senate Bill 43 Bill Text-SB-43 behavioral health (ca.gov), offer hope to thousands of vulnerable Californians, the majority of whom are struggling on our streets.
What a thrill it was this morning to celebrate the beginning of construction on the new classroom, student services, and administration building at the CSU Stanislaus - Stockton Campus!
For many, many years I and others have promoted the idea for, and fought to advance the development of, a full CSU campus in Stockton. While the work on that goal continues, today marked a significant down payment towards that objective. The $54 million building expands capacity, provides significant technological and service upgrades for students, and is a recognition of the tremendous potential that exists among our youth!
I also want to extend many thanks to CSU Stanislaus President Sue Borrego for her passion and leadership in support of the Stockton Campus, and to the many community leaders, members, and students who came out to celebrate this big step forward.

Team Eggman is celebrating Cinco de Mayo at Weber Point Center in Stockton CA. Please enjoy the festivities and come by our booth and meet the team.
With the joys of living near and along the Delta and the rivers in the San Joaquin Valley come responsibilities. A priority of mine since entering elected office on the Stockton City Council and then in the California State Legislature has been protecting our waterways as well as advocating for the integrity and strength of our many levees. The Mossdale Tract Assessment for 200 year Flood Protection is a plan to shore up levees near Lathrop, Ripon, and Weston Ranch. 55,000 residents 32 schools and medical facilities would be impacted by flooding from the east bank of the San Joaquin River and the south bank of French Camp Slough.
I encourage county residents to attend public community meetings, ask questions about the plan, the finances, and the impacts of not meeting state requirements for 200-year flood protection.
Please visit www.sjafca.org/oad for more information and public community meeting dates, the first of which is May 1st, at 6:30 pm at West Ranch High School Cafeteria, 4606 McCuen Avenue.
200-Year Flood Protection for Mossdale Tract | San Joaquin Area Flood Agency 200-Year Flood Protection for Mossdale Tract On April 18, the SJAFCA Board of Directors authorized balloting for a proposed property assessment for more than 22,000 properties in the Mossdale Tract Area. Valley veterans gave and continue to give so much to their country. I was proud to have added my voice to the chorus champions for the creation of the Richard A. Pittman VA Clinic. I am honored to have attended today’s ribbon cutting ceremony and talking with veterans and their family members about this much anticipated facility.
