On this day in in 1983, the INXS LP “Shabooh Shoobah” debuted on the US Billboard 200 Album Chart at #190 (March 19)
INXS's third studio album is one of their most underrated, full of excellent material like “Don’t Change”, “Black and White”, “The One Thing” and “To Look at You”.
The production by Mark Opitz is lush, but also vibrant.
Tim Farriss said "Mark was the first producer that was able to capture some glimmer of what the band felt it was like live.
Prior to us, Mark had done bands like AC/DC, Cold Chisel, The Angels. Big guitar sounds, mighty drum beats".
The album peaked at #5 on the Australian charts and remained on the chart for 94 weeks.
It was the band's first album to be released worldwide and eventually broke into the Top 50 in the US at #46.

It was a busy time on the road for the guys; the sessions for Reckoning were just a week in December and 9 days in January— and that was that and then it was on to the next show,, a benefit for the Legal Environmental Assistance Foundation (L.E.A.F.) at the old Moonshadow Saloon in ATL. Things were perking up and the good songs just kept on coming. - Bertis Downs
