East Regional Library is open and back to normal business hours moving forward. Thank you!

19/07/2024

To the users of our East Regional Library location – we appreciate you. We apologize for any inconvenience the ongoing closures and limited openings may be causing. Unfortunately, we are dealing with a critical issue to the primary HVAC unit at this location.

Due to the extreme heat we have been experiencing, when the location reaches certain internal temperatures, for the safety of our patrons and team members, we have to make the difficult decision to limit hours or close the location entirely. Please trust that we are working with other county departments to have the unit repaired as soon as we can, but we do not have an ETA at this time.

We do and will continue to strive to have East Regional open as much as possible, but your best chance of entry will be in the earlier morning hours. We will continue to keep you updated on the open/closed status, and really appreciate your patience.

Please also remember that you can visit our other locations at any time during normal operating hours. https://durhamcountylibrary.org/hours-and-locations/

What are academic ? What do they do? 📚

Join us for an exciting event where six African American male librarians from North Carolina A&T State University (F.D. Bluford Library) will discuss their journey and experiences in librarianship. will share their stories and highlight experiences that enable them to become educators, problems solvers, creatives, researchers and so much more.

The session will call for audience engagement and feedback, as the panelist will seek to generate further dialogue on black males in librarianship. Libraries are spaces where innovation, critical thinking, and ideas are generated. Most are original in thought, others are remixed.

Nonetheless, librarians are many times the catalyst behind great ideas and the role of the African American Male Librarian will be acknowledged and represented.
