Laura LaValle, Nutritionist

As a registered dietitian/nutritionist, I'd like to share my favorite nutrition, lifestyle and health tips with everyone!

I've been dieting, reading about dieting, taking supplements and eating, sleeping, and living all things nutrition since I was a young 18 year old dancer trying to have more energy for my long days. Since then I have had a family, went to school for a degree in nutrition, was an RD in hospital, and have been working as integrative dietitian for 20 years. I've seen a lot and learned a lot and can help you sort out this BIG maze called nutrition.

Scary fact - ultraprocessed foods are addicting due to what is termed hyperpalatability, which just means they taste really good. That's why people love them and they are hard to not eat.
Good news: Once you manage to get away from them, you feel better. After avoiding for a while, for some of the more artificially flavored and colored foods, when you do eat them, you can taste the chemicals, which helps ability to avoid them in the future.
Some delicious whole food photos for inspiration. . .🙂

Half a pizza for 6 g net digestible carb? Thank you ! Yep!! Game day food that doesn’t break the too-many-high-glycemic carbs bank! Love it!

Product Review: does a great job with pre prepared meals. They use really clean ingredients and control carbs and sodium compared to most other prepared foods AND they taste great. This one is no exception! One caution- it has 25 g net carb per cup on the pasta. That’s much better than most but still needs to be worked into a controlled daily carb amount. Add a vegetable and a salad and you have great meal for nights when you don’t have a lot of time for cooking.

Found a really good gluten free snack! I always look at it like what’s the worst that could happen if I eat the whole bag? See comments for the answer!

Another new bar. . What I like simple ingredients list, soft, good taste AND 11g fiber. This is donut flavor and it did taste somewhat like a maple donut. The other flavors are good too (choc PB and choc cookie dough) Overall this is one of my favorite gluten free dairy free bars now!

Been trying out some new protein bars. A good one can make all the difference in on the run eating, like when you travel. This one has a perfect nutrition profile and tasted good too. Not a super soft gooey bar, but not hard either. Good!

Beautiful healthy delicious . Rainbow veggies a fave, & seasoned brown rice with red and black quinoa. Just one caution. Even though this is brown rice and quinoa, there’s only 2.5 g of fiber. So one cup (half the package) is 45g net carb.

This a real plate. Not beautifully styled from a food stylist. A real healthy plate that’s plant forward deliciousness. Carb managed (with the *bean salad) not carb depleted. *Garlic chicken burger with plant based cheese to avoid inflammatory dairy. *Shaved Brussels sprouts and a lot of salad. Yummy and filling. 😋 * these foods all from

This was great recipe. My daughter saw it on TikTok (link in comments) and shared it with me. I served it with GF and non dairy provolone slices. Tip: pound your chicken breasts for the recipe. They’ll cook up more tender. Delish!!
