This fall, North Central Idaho is THE place to be for steelhead fishing, with Idaho Fish and Game Clearwater Region predicting a historic run! An incredible 47,000 steelhead are expected to return to the Clearwater River Basināthe largest run since records began. Plus, the Snake River is anticipating its largest run in eight years, with 30,000 steelhead, mainly hefty two-year ocean fish averaging around 10 pounds each!

Discover the rich history of the Clearwater Lime Company at the latest exhibit at the Clearwater Historical Museum in Orofino. Unearth the stories of the people and processes behind this pivotal industry that shaped North Central Idaho. From vintage photographs to original tools and machinery, explore how lime production was discovered in 1899 on the hill above Orofino and its crucial role in building our communities.
Now through mid-October, you can see it all up close and personal at the Clearwater Historical Museum, which just happens to be built where the lime and cement plant used to be. You can still see remains of the lime kiln near the Best Western Lodge at River's Edge.
