A friend asked how we get our lumber for the offgrid projects. We use a small homeade log skidder pulled behind a 4wheeler. We use storm damaged pines and standing dead Ash trees..

The crew at Bond Hardwoods always keeps the mill well fed when I'm sawing. Really good people..

Progress of the control room for the shower house. We used the insulated panels and floor from a solar kiln we were no longer using. Now, to get the front framed up, including a door large enough to accommodate a water tote..

Haven't quite finished the shower house but decided to prep for the main cabin. Getting the concrete done before the weather turns. The plan is to get the frame up over the winter......but then again, the shower house has taken almost five years! Ha ha.

When running low on cedar trim boards, you can go to the lumber yard or to the stash in the edge of the woods.😁.

Trim almost complete, then on to a good cleaning and treating the wood. Little at a time, totally enjoying the process.

Weekend trip to my old stomping grounds. Picked up the essentials from Bramlets and headed to Willowbrook cabins in the Shawnee National forest with family. Kid friendly hike to Millstone bluff and, of course, had to hit Shotgun Eddys a couple of times. .

Day hikes in Red River Gorge Kentucky. If you like to hike or backpack, it's a must-see.
