I started Action Learning Institute to raise awareness about the impac
t of inattention, impulse control and hyperactivity on academic learning and life success - all to often these three characteristics lead to major difficulties in life down the road. Action Learning Institute provides coaching for children and adults to better understand how their unique brains operate and we use an action based learning model that is proven to improve overall development and function in the areas of inattention, impulse control and hyperactivity. My WordPress and YouTube channels & will provide further insight into ADHD and “emotional disabilities” & will offer success strategies that have worked for me personally and my students over many years based - I believe that with a balance between the artistry of teaching coupled with scientific principles of cognitive (study of the brains ability to learn ) & behavioral (conditioning) psychology anyone - even the most disorganized - can become tremendously successful! I have developed a system that improves functional skills - Skills such as: planning, organization, paying attention, task completion, working with others, taking direction from authority, patience, memory, management of time and space, managing emotions, impulse control, flexible thinking, reading for understanding, task initiation, decisiveness, persistence, empathy, gratitude and judgement - that works. Who would benefit most from my coaching system? Typically those who struggle in school, are accident prone, have trouble with friendships, working as a team and more. In brief, I help smart people with divergent habits. I believe that IQ can be increased because it is not fixed and that all people can achieve at extraordinary levels - even the most disorganized. I understand the old, "I did it but I lost it...I swear" routine because I have said it myself before. Why ALI? With over 20 years in the field of education, Dr. Anthony has devised an evidence based program that is proven to increase academic achievement and life success above and beyond traditional 1:1 tutoring, after school and summer programming and even counseling. ALI uses the fundamentals of child psychology together with an array of teaching tools commonly available in most households including: schedules, calendars, planners, priority lists, to do lists, progress charts, graphic organizers, mnemonic devices, art, story boards, voice reminders, watches, alarms, post it notes, daily orientation sheets, how to cards, technology, audio recordings, video's and much more. ALI activities involve: active play, strategy games, skills/drills from sports, brain breaks, breathing buddies, meta boxes, logic puzzles, balancing games, imaginary play, reading, walking trips, music, drumming, journaling, planned reflection, drawing, record keeping and more.
