Green island is a bit of the rainforest off the coast of Cairns in the Coral Sea. I got to paint and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef there recently.

What’s not to love…kangaroos, koalas and mountains of leftover volcanic plugs dotting the landscape.

I’m inspired to do watercolors here. Initially because they are lightweight and convenient. But I love the spontaneity, vivid color and emphasis on the brushstrokes.

And a couple black and white graphite and marker drawings from North Stradbroke Island when I forgot my watercolors.

“Heat” is the name of the exhibition.

Recently I had the pleasure of kayaking in the Crystal River area. I painted 2 “plein water” watercolors, at the Chasshowiska River and Threes Sisters Springs.

A recent pastel commission of a friend’s beloved dog while kayaking with her, damselflies, and her friend on a lake near Escalante, Utah.

I love the process…kayaking on the night of the Full Buck Moon with some watercolors, floating among the gators and bats on beautiful Banks Lake.

Dreaming of Jekyll Island…all paintings are oil on canvas, painted on location. All are available; please message me for details.

Saturday at 6:30 is Artopia in Tallahassee, a gala event to raise money for Big Bend Cares, in support of people living with HIV/AIDS. There will be great food, drink, people and art. My painting, Jekyll Island Palms, 18x24”, oil on canvas, will be auctioned in the live auction. Come check it out and support a great cause!

I really enjoyed painting in Open Air Meriwether in central Georgia. I tried something new for me: painting buildings (at the historic Cotton Fair in Gay, Georgia.)
