The New York Netters won the 2016 World Professional Badminton League title over the Copenhagen Castles and the Los Angeles Strings. All three teams finished with 1-1 win-loss records, but with the new scoring system that counts every point won, New York finished with 146 points won, compared to Copenhagen's 142 points and Los Angeles' 130 points. The Los Angeles Strings (2016 Olympian Eva Lee, 2012 Olympian Toby Ng, and two-time US national champion Hock Lai Lee) will play the New York Netters (2016 Olympian Paula O'Banana, 2016 Danish national champion Rasmus Fladberg, and Frederik Colberg) at 8:00 pm. Eva Lee-Paula O'Banana (LA) d Sabrina Jaquet-Phyllis Chan 17-16. Brice Leverdez (COP) d Kevin Cordon 17-5. The Castles will host the Stockholm Smash in Copenhagen in October.

Play in a round-robin doubles event with and against eight of the world's best players, including 2016 Olympians Eva Lee (USA), Paula Obanana (USA), Sabrina Jaquet (Switzeland) and Brice Leverdez (France) and Kevin Cordon (Guatemala), as well as Christian Lind Thomsen (Denmark) and Hock Lai Lee (USA). Entry fee is $125 and each amateur will receive a gift bag. Amateurs can request to be paired with the pro of their choice (first come, first serve).
