As we head into this long weekend, enjoying barbecue and parties, please do not forget what the day is about. Why we can enjoy the food we’re eating, the religion we believe in, the freedom to speak how we want, and so much more. It’s because of the men and women who have stood on the front lines to protect us. The moms, dads, brothers, sisters, husbands & wives who gave their lives and their counterparts who grieve them.

I encourage you to take a full minute of silence at some point in your day to truly remember and honor our heroes, feel the weight of that selflessness.

If you’re in Anchorage on Sunday, May 28, there is an organized event to clean headstones at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery, 9:30-1:00. Only a small token of appreciation to the sacrifice these people have given.

Happy Mother’s Day beautiful Mamas! Just know as we grow older we see you, we see your struggles through raising us and we see what joys you bring. We may not always agree or listen but we will remember the lessons you taught us and the love you gave us.

My mom is my saving grace and best friend. As I grow through adulthood I have this little voice in my head, my mom. Everything she has taught me and the lessons I didn’t know were important until now shine through. I wouldn’t want to call anybody else Mom.

And to all you gorgeous ladies. You are strong. Beautiful. Ever changing. Loved. Seen. Heard. And absolutely adored. Motherhood is the most selfless act you could have ever done and us kids are so proud and in awe of you.

I wanted to create something that incorporated my love for sweets with my admiration for literature. My favorite thing in the world is to get lost in the pages of a good book and snack on something delicious. Whether you’re wanting a cake for story time or a big event, this kitchen has got your back. There are no limits when it comes to flavors, so whatever crazy ideas you may have let us know! We’re here for you and your taste buds!
