Meiburg's band Shearwater has released nine studio albums for Matador and Sub Pop records, including Palo Santo, Rook, The Golden Archipelago, Animal Joy, Fellow Travelers, and Jet Plane & Oxbow. In 2018 they re-created ‪David Bowie‬’s“Berlin” Trilogy of albums for WNYC’s New Sounds program (available on Bandcamp). Come find out Monday 9 March, 5:30-6:45 pm, Gelman Library 702‬, GW. ‘s Jonathan Meiburg will discuss researching & writing his forthcoming book, A Most Remarkable Creature: the Incredible Journey of the World's Most Intelligent Bird of Prey (Knopf), which describes the evolution of South America’s wildlife, landscapes & people through the eyes of the crow-like falcons called caracaras & Victorian-era naturalist William Henry Hudson. Meiburg’s travels led him to the outer Falkland Islands, the tropical forests of Guyana, & the volcanoes of the high Andes.
