Jonathan Meiburg will join Prof. Kip Lornell’s Ethnomusicology seminar Tuesday 10 March, 12:45 - 2:00 pm, Phillips Hall B120, to explore sustainable music-making + tracks from The Secret Museum of Mankind, a wild and mysterious compilation of early musical recordings from around the world. The full 8-volume set is available on Spotify, and held in reserve in Gelman Library on CD. But no homework required!

In 2018 they re-created David Bowie’s“Berlin” Trilogy of albums for WNYC’s New Sounds program (available on Bandcamp). Come find out Monday 9 March, 5:30-6:45 pm, Gelman Library 702, GW. ‘s Jonathan Meiburg will discuss researching & writing his forthcoming book, A Most Remarkable Creature: the Incredible Journey of the World's Most Intelligent Bird of Prey (Knopf), which describes the evolution of South America’s wildlife, landscapes & people through the eyes of the crow-like falcons called caracaras & Victorian-era naturalist William Henry Hudson. Meiburg’s travels led him to the outer Falkland Islands, the tropical forests of Guyana, & the volcanoes of the high Andes.
