Willie used to say this all the time "10 toes down" or "I'm gonna stand on my 10 toes."

"10 toes down" means to be committed, you stand for something and your word is bond. You could depend on his: if Willie said he was going to do something, he did it. If he made a mistake, he owned up to it. He was committed to his family and his friends. Willie was 10 toes down for all those he loved. Now the question is: who or what are you 10 toes down for?

Our founder spent a lot of his childhood searching for his mom. You would have thought he was adopted. He was definitely a momma's boy; but, he had a connection to her like none other.

It's interesting that the same connection that Willie had with his mom is the same connection that we have with Africa, even though we may not know it. We all came from Africa... life originated in Africa. Maybe, just maybe, everything that we are searching for: closeness, curiosity, compassion, humility, and passion. Maybe Africa is the missing link between us all.

Just face it: some of us aren't everyone's cup of tea.

What is great about life is that we are all different. Our founder often struggled understanding why he felt some people didn't care about him. He wanted to know what he did that made him not disserving of THEIR love.

Many conversations were had with him; trying to get him to understand that sometimes, no matter what we do, not everyone is going to love us for who we are. Life dictates who and what we like; making it inevitable that not everyone will like or love us.

It is nearly impossible for everyone we come in to contact with to see us how we see ourselves But, guess what? It's okay.
