🧐🧐🧐 To most of us, eyeglasses seem like an obvious solution when we need to correct our eyesight. Does it mean then that eyeglasses are the only right choice for maintaining healthy eyes and stopping a progressing vision defect? Let’s look into it.
It's time to bust some myths! 🧐🥳
MYTH #2.
Contact lenses are not appropriate for children, teenagers and old people. 👧👱♀️🧓
The myth of contact lenses not being for everyone and being too difficult for a child, teenager or old person to put on is popular among those who have never done it. On the surface, it might seem like a complicated procedure, while actually it’s a set of a few learned moves. Properly selected and maintained lenses should not cause any discomfort either, and it’s impossible for them to physically move outside the eye’s border.
– Concerns about using contact lenses are unfounded. The first moments after putting them on might be a completely new, surprising experience. What matters is to always start while supervised by a specialist, and then fully enjoy the comfort of using them. As indicated by our research, to 58% of lens wearers, the key factor when choosing them is indeed the comfort. 👀❤️

It's time to bust some myths! 🧐🥳
‼️ MYTH #1 ‼️
Vision defect correction should be started by using eyeglasses 👓
When it comes to the first correction, patients choose eyeglasses way more often – as many as 87%*.
Only 8% of them choose contact lenses right away, and 5% use both these methods interchangeably right from the start. Such significant advantage of one method over the other may be caused by insufficient knowledge.
– Despite contact lenses having been available on the market for a few decades now, there are still plenty of myths circulating about them. One of them is that it is corrective eyeglasses that stop a progressing vision defect, unlike contact lenses. The basis for our eyes’ health is a professionally conducted eye exam and adequately selected correction, and not whether we start correcting the defect with eyeglasses or contact lenses.
⭐️Daily or monthly contact lenses?⭐
The huge number of advantages of contact lenses is causing a growing number of people to quit wearing eyeglasses in favor of the popular “contacts”. Making the decision to buy lenses is just the beginning, as the users are facing a dilemma – should they choose daily or monthly lenses? Both solutions have their upsides and downsides. Which is why analyzing all the “pros” and “cons” may help make the right decision.
⭐️1️⃣ Daily contact lenses – pros and cons⭐️
Daily lenses – as the name suggests – are intended to be replaced everyday. Every morning we need to put on a new pair and throw away the old one.
❗️The key advantages of daily lenses are:❗️
no need for everyday maintenance of the “contacts” – we take off the used pair in the evening and then put on fresh lenses next day,
lower risk of infection, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis – it is possible thanks to having to replace the “contacts” everyday, which means that the probability of microbes getting in is negligible,
safe use of swimming pools – after leaving the pool, we can put on a new pair of lenses without worrying about microbes getting in from the water.
❗️❗️The greatest disadvantage of daily lenses is their price – the cost of buying “contacts” is slightly higher compared to other lenses (in terms of price per unit).
⭐️3️⃣0️⃣ Monthly contact lenses – pros and cons⭐️
Monthly lenses are a solution that allows to wear the same “contacts” for 30 days. All we have to do is take them off before going to bed, clean them properly and place them in the carrying case, and then put them back on the next morning.
❗️The key advantages of monthly lenses are:❗️
lower price – in terms of unit costs, monthly “contacts” are cheaper than daily lenses,
the lifespan of the lenses is 30 days – we just have to buy a new pair as late as a few days before.
❗️❗️The key disadvantages of monthly lenses are:
need for everyday maintenance – the “contacts” have to be thoroughly cleaned in order to remove the accumulated protein deposits and microbes, as well as store them in a special carrying case,
need for buying additional maintenance accessories – which increases the cost of using monthly lenses,
higher risk of infection – in case of inadequate maintenance.
🥇🥇🥇 Which solution is the best? 🥇🥇🥇
Both daily and monthly contact lenses have their upsides and downsides. The final choice, however, depends only on individual preferences. In both cases you’re getting much higher comfort of use compared to eyeglasses.👓
Contact lenses don’t get foggy in winter ❄️ and they make playing sports more comfortable. ❤️
How to put on contact lenses? A simple, practical guide. 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣
⭐️Step 1. Getting ready to put on the lenses
In order to get properly prepared to put on lenses, you should have the following around: a mirror with good lighting (that’s why we usually put on our lenses in the bathroom), soap and towel (to wash and dry your hands) and the box with lenses (a package of disposable ones or a carrying case with lenses of a longer wearing mode).
Before you take the lens out of the box, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and dry them. You need to do it thoroughly enough to not leave any fibers or pieces of cloth on the fingers that could get in your eye.
⭐️⭐️ Step 2. Placing the lens on the eye
The lens needs to be placed on the fingertip of the right index finger (if you are right-handed). At this point you have to make sure if it is rolled up the right way. Lift it into the light and check its shape – if it is perfectly semicircular (like a bowl), it means it is on the wrong side. The edge of a lens should be pointing up.
If the lens is properly placed on the fingertip, then pull the lower eyelid down with the middle finger of the same hand, and pull the upper eyelid up with the index finger of the other hand. Then – while still having the lens on the fingertip of the index finger – place it to the center part of the eye (preferably while looking straight ahead at the mirror).
Don’t press the lens too hard and make sure it doesn’t roll up while putting it on – if it does, you need to turn it again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Step 3. Making sure if the lens has been put on correctly
A properly placed lens should not bother or cause discomfort. The eye should also have its natural color, it cannot be irritated or burning. So how to make sure if the lens has been put on correctly?
First and foremost, right after you put it on, before you let go of the lower and upper eyelid, move your eye around (up – down, right – left). If the visual acuity is good and there’s nothing bothering you, let go of both eyelids and blink. The lens should settle in its place. If, despite blinking and moving the eye around, you still feel that something is wrong – take off the lens and put it on again.
Note – during the first attempts of putting on “contacts” you might feel like it’s bothering you despite the lens being placed correctly. It’s a psychological effect. That’s why it’s always a good idea to put on the lenses for the first time while supervised by a specialist. The ophthalmologist or optometrist working at the optical store will help you learn how to properly put on lenses. You can book a visit using our virtual front desk. Don’t wait – do it today. ❤️❤️❤️
