Tonight! D.J's Sara Vox and D.J. Christine Moritz celebrate the first year anniversary of the Blackout with the music of Siouxsie and the Banshees and women in New Wave/Darkwave, along with all your Goth, Post-Punk, New Wave and Darkwave favorites!

With 11 studio albums released over a 20 + year career it's hard to pick a favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees album. Kaleidescope is up there though with songs like the iconic "Christine" and "Happy House", as well as dance floor favorites like "Red Light" and "Desert Kisses". We'll be playing all these songs and more Saturday May 25th at the Neptune Room when D.J. Sara Vox and D.J. Christine Moritz celebrate the music of Siouxsie and the Banshees and women in New Wave/Darkwave.

We're thrilled to announce we'll have a guest D.J. joining D.J. Sara Vox at the first anniversary of The Blackout next Saturday night! D.J. Christine Moritz made her debut at Buzz and has graced decks at the 930 club, Eighteenth Street Lounge and the U.K. Big Chill festival of 2006 as well as many cities around the U.S. and the world.

For the Blackout she'll be spinning her favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees songs and other fave Goth, Post-Punk, New Wave and Darkwave songs.

We're busy crafting our set for the one year anniversary of the Blackout celebrating the music of Siouxsie and the Banshees and women in New Wave and Darkwave music. Last year our set was built around 21 SATB songs and music from bands that influenced or were influenced by SATB, this year we're trying for even more, starting with songs off SATB's debut album The Scream. With songs like Mirage, Jigsaw Feeling, Metal Postcard and Overground this killer debut album will kick off a 4 hour set of SATB favorites and deep cuts.

Can't wait until May 25th for a Blackout set? Thursday May 2nd D.J. Sara Vox will be spinning the Madeline Goldstein/SYZYGYX/ Tear Sponsor show at Slash Run, do not miss this stellar line-up of dark synth music! Doors at 7pm, $15 cash only at the door.

The next Blackout date is set! Saturday May 25 DJ Sara Vox returns to the Neptune Room to celebrate the first year anniversary of this incarnation of the Blackout with a return to the music of Siouxsie and the Banshees and a focus on women in New Wave and Darkwave music. We're thinking that D.C. needs an annual Siouxsie party too, tell us is you agree - I'm sure you won't disagree - in the comments!

Formed in 1985 after the break up of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets saw Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins continue their musical collaboration while forging a poppier, shimmering sound through the 80's and 90's before diving into an electronic sound with their last two albums. Along the way the band hit #3 on the Billboard charts with "So Alive" and the music video for the song entered the musical consciousness of the era through its heavy rotation on MTV.

Saturday night Dj Vlad and Sara Vox will be spinning their favorite Love and Rockets songs as well as a few deep cuts. Come dance dead at the dark disco.

Tones on Tail started as a side project in 1982 between Daniel Ash and Glenn Campling. After Bauhaus broke up Kevin Haskins joined and Tones on Tail became a full time band for the trio. During their short existence they created lush, danceable soundscapes popular with dj's and big budget Hollywood films. We'll be spinning some of our favorite Tones on Tail songs this Saturday for your dancing pleasure.

It's hard to believe that "Bela Lugosi's Dead" will be 45 years old this year. Recorded in one take in 1979 the nine minute song had an immediate impact on music and culture that continues today. When was the last time you danced to Bela? Come out and dance to it with us February 3 at the Neptune Room.

The Blitz club was immortalized when David Bowie recruited several Blitz kids to be in his video for "Ashes to Ashes". A haven in Covent Garden for artists and fashion forward people, Boy George worked coat check at the club before his musical breakthrough. The Blitz club's influence on music and fashion can still be felt today and we'll be paying tribute to it with hits from the club's dance floor by artists like Visage, Ultravox - and David Bowie of course.

The bands who played The Roxy and the 100 Club are too many to name but include luminaries like The Clash, The Damned, The Buzzcocks and Siouxsie and the Banshees to name a few. They'll all be gracing our turntables Saturday night at the Neptune Room as dj's Sara Vox and Danny Ingram pay tribute to the clubs and sub-cultures of London.

This Saturday we cross the pond and celebrate music from the legendary clubs and sub-cultures of London, including the one and only Batcave club. Specimen, Alien S*x Fiend... they all played here and you can expect to hear them November 18 at the Neptune Room.

Saturday November 18 The Blackout returns to the Neptune Room with LONDON CALLING, a night of Punk, Goth, Post-Punk and New Wave from the legendary clubs of London!

D.j Sara Vox and guest d.j. Danny Ingram (Dot Dash, Strange Boutique, Youth Brigade) will spin all vinyl sets of beloved songs from clubs like the Batcave, the 100 Club, Blitz Club, The Roxy and more.

The Blackout at the Goon House show was such a fun night. Thank you Cemetery S*x, Fuzz Voyage, Blood Ponies, and Seasick Gladiator for playing killer sets, and everyone who came out and packed The Runaway and showed the bands so much appreciation.

The Blackout at the Goon House roll call continues... joining us will be Fuzz Voyage, a Stoner Doom band with visuals by Tree Sap Light Show. Their sets blend blistering guitars with swirling liquid light visuals into a dark sonic voyage. See them at The Runaway Saturday October 7, because you like it darker.

It's almost time to put away our black Summer clothes and bring out our black Fall clothes as we prepare for our Blackout/Goon House show at The Runaway! Joining us will be Cemetery S*x who have been burning up stages this summer in the DMV with their smoldering Gothic Doom sound. Singer Anastasia describes them as a band that has dark, heavy moments coupled with soft, ethereal, brooding and romantic ones as well.

It was an epic relationship and break-up between Nick Cave and PJ Harvey that inspired the album The Boatman's Call. We'll be spinning some of PJ's own songs in honor of their creative influence on each other.

Former Bad Seed Kid Congo Powers is a legendary artist and musician in his own right. Before becoming a Bad Seed he was a member of The Gun Club and The Cramps. We'll be spinning songs from both these bands to celebrate Kid Congo's role.

Before the Bad Seeds there was The Birthday Party, and before The Birthday Party there was The Boys Next Door. We'll be spinning songs from both bands August 5 in celebration of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Saturday August 5 DJ Sara Vox returns to the Neptune Room for an all vinyl night of music celebrating the work of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and related bands The Birthday Party, Gun Club, the Cramps, PJ Harvey, Einsturzende Neubauten and more.
