Curating an art gallery is just one more way we share our passion for design, art, beauty, community, and expression. Described as an “invisible gem,” by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and ARTSATL.org, Page’s Gallery 100 Atlanta is celebrating 15 years of providing a gorgeous space for the intersection of fine arts and architecture by showcasing the works of national, regional, and local artists working across all mediums.

Writer Jerry W. Cullum described Gallery 100 as regularly presenting “exhibitions in harmony with the refined aesthetics of the firm that houses it.” And he noted that our gallery “has flourished in an iconic downtown building with no signage and only modest publicity.”

If you’re in Atlanta, please take time for an artistic infusion at Gallery 100. It’s free; open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, and ready to inspire!

Gallery 100 is located at 100 Peachtree Street NW, Mezzanine level within the Page Atlanta office.

At Page, our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity goes beyond merely meeting ADA requirements, and our design approach is enriched by the personal experiences of team. In our blog, Page Marketing Strategist Briana Carter describes how challenges with a baby stroller shaped her thinking on accessibility; Project Manager Rebekah Bellum shares how, during an ADA-focused seminar, her architectural perspective shifted by navigating mock spaces such as ramps, toilet facilities, turn spaces, and entrances; and Architect Tyler Thompson reveals how experiencing a stroke intensified his understanding of what it feels like to do things so many of us take for granted: from opening a door to finding alternatives when an elevator is broken.

Inspired by personal experiences and informed by ongoing education, our teams push the boundaries of what accessible design can achieve.

Pride month isn't just about rainbow flags and parades; it's a celebration of visibility, acceptance, and progress. In the construction and design community, LGBTQ+ individuals play an integral role in driving innovation, fostering creativity, and pushing boundaries.

Here's why LGBTQ+ Pride is crucial within the construction and design industry:
1. Diverse Perspectives Spark Innovation: Inclusion breeds innovation. LGBTQ+ individuals bring diverse perspectives shaped by their unique life experiences. Whether it's reimagining public spaces to be more inclusive or designing buildings that reflect the vibrancy of LGBTQ+ culture, their contributions push boundaries and inspire creativity.
2. Creating Safe and Inclusive Spaces: Just as architects carefully plan every detail of a building to ensure its safety and functionality, creating a welcoming environment for all is essential. Pride initiatives within the construction community promote inclusivity, making workplaces safer and more supportive for everyone.
3. Breaking Down Barriers: Historically, our industry has lacked diversity, but that’s changing rapidly along with the demographics of our society. LGBTQ+ individuals along with other historically underrepresented groups are breaking down these barriers, challenging stereotypes, and paving the way for a more inclusive future. By embracing LGBTQ+ pride, the construction community creates a culture of acceptance where everyone can thrive.
4. Driving Social Change: Architecture and design have the power to shape society. By integrating LGBTQ+ perspectives, designers and architects contribute to broader social change. From designing gender-neutral bathrooms to advocating for affordable housing and healthcare equity, LGBTQ+ individual’s work extends far beyond aesthetics, making a tangible difference in people's lives.
5. Inspiring Future Generations: Visibility matters. When LGBTQ+ professionals are celebrated and respected within the construction and design industry, it sends a powerful message to future generations. By showcasing diverse role models and mentors, we can inspire young LGBTQ+ individuals to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction, ensuring a more diverse and inclusive workforce for years to come.

In essence, LGBTQ+ pride is not just a celebration; it's a call to action. It's a reminder that diversity is our greatest strength and that by embracing inclusion, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for all. So, let's raise our rainbow flags high, celebrate our differences, and continue to push the boundaries of design and construction, one project at a time.

Think Pride!

Page team members are uniting this month to in raising awareness and keeping the focus on the true meaning of . In the hubbub of a three-day weekend, filled with family time, friends, and fun, it can be easy to lose sight of the significance and intention behind this national holiday: to honor and remember our nation’s fallen heroes.

Since 2016, Page Principal and Senior Healthcare Planner Hilary Bales, AIA, has led the charge in organizing our firm’s participation in Carry The Load events across the country. Each year, many of our offices participate in marches and rallies throughout May to help raise community awareness of the enormous sacrifices made by our military and their families. Founded in 2011, Carry The Load has expanded to include recognition for law enforcement, first responders, and firefighters.

The architecture/engineering/construction community has a large population of veterans and leaders from across the industry are committed to activities like Carry The Load. For example, Hilary, whose husband is an Air Force veteran, is also the Committee Chairwoman for One Tribe Foundation's leaders in construction group which draws AEC leaders together to empower veterans, first responders, and front-line healthcare workers access to mental wellness programs.

We're looking forward to this weekend's Memorial Day walks and in the meantime, enjoying a trip down memory lane with these photos from past years!

Growing up in India, healthcare felt personal for Page/Albuquerque Operations Director Nitish Suvarna: “My doctor knew my parents and my immediate family by name since I was born.” That’s one of the reasons he’s fascinated by rural healthcare architecture in the US, where a more personal approach is frequently embraced.

For example, one healthcare client in a rural setting amplified the personal touch by including others in the design process — inviting community feedback, suggestions from a vendor on cafeteria flow, and input from clinical staff.

Nitish shares his story here: https://bit.ly/3JJf2GN

"Where there's a sustainable environment, where there's energy consciousness, there is good health." — Gaurav Khadse, Vice President of Facilities Planning and Development at Texas Children's Hospital.

When Texas Children's Hospital, one of the leading pediatric hospitals in America, decided to expand its footprint into the Central Texas market with its North Austin Campus, it had a goal of achieving a two-star rating under the Austin Energy Green Building program (AEGB) -- a precursor to the LEED rating system. Not only did this project achieve that goal, it exceeded it.

The campus earned a 3-star rating by harnessing innovative technologies, including recycling condensate water for landscape irrigation, a landscape design that honors Central Texas ecology, efficient electrical and plumbing fixtures, and a larger retention wet pond.

We are proud of the collaborative work that went into this project, helping Texas Children's achieve their goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 while providing world-class care to children, women, and families.

Empathy is the hallmark of Nnadozie Okeke, AIA, LEED AP 's approach to design – and to life. With perspective shaped by being raised in the developing nation of Nigeria, in his career, Nana has found his most compelling work in designing inner-city schools for changing communities.

“Architecture can be transformative,” Nana says. “A building needs to look great, but it also needs to work for the users. … I don’t only look forward to design meetings – I look forward to visiting the job site during construction, and I look forward to answering questions from users many years post-occupancy. I look forward to all of it because it makes me who I am.”

Get inspired by Nana’s story, from the early influence of his father, to mentoring others as a practicing architect, to why he prioritizes “touching the soil and the earth” with his children in the garden after a long day’s work: https://bit.ly/3vWdW7f

"I've relied on simple diagram sketches throughout my career to communicate conceptual thinking and guide project design. They're invaluable for keeping discussions on track and ensuring the project's magic, or essence, is upheld.

"For instance, in Colorado, our design for The Broe Group at the MAX Tech Center in Longmont drew inspiration from the region’s mountain valleys in its use of interior geometry and materials.

"Similarly, the Longview Behavioral Health in Larimer County was designed to embrace the site's beauty and views to foster healing. The shape of the building’s floor plan protects and hugs a large outdoor patient space while also orienting the main interior lobby to spatially expand toward the westward views." — Page Senior Design Architect R.Scott Stoll, AIA
