DID YOU MISS THIS POST??? 👀
The World Bonsai Convention is held every 4 years and the privilege of hosting is awarded to one of
the 9 World Bonsai Friendship Federation regions.
The 2017 convention was held in Saitama, Japan.
Originally due to be held in Perth in October 2021, the convention was postponed until October
2022. Due to the ongoing uncertainties about travel and quarantine restrictions it was decided to
hold the convention as a virtual event.
This gives us the opportunity to see 9 International bonsai demonstrations and a world class bonsai
and suiseki display for only $90 (if you book by 30 June).
You don’t have to watch the demonstrations live, you’ll be able to watch at your convenience and
from the comfort of your own home.
You’ll be able to replay the demonstrations even after the convention ends on 16 October up until
31 October.
For more info and to download the convention brochure click here:

After 30 June it will cost $140 to register which is still cheap!!!
HOW IT WILL WORK
The 9th World Bonsai Convention will be run as a Virtual Reality Event, which means that the first
run of each day will be scheduled to start at a particular time (10:00 am Western Australian Time)
and if registrants log in at any time after that start time, they will miss part of that presentation but
be able to view it again in full, on demand, with pause/stop/start functions, eight (8) hours after the
first running.
This will apply to all presentations.
After that all presentations can be played on demand up until the end of October. All
demonstrations will be pre-recorded for this event and the entire program controlled by a software
program with attendant technical support staff.
Two of the international Demonstrations will
include a live interactive question time at the immediate completion of the demonstration. These will be for Shinji Suzuki and Michael Hagedorn.
The 9th World Bonsai Convention will commence to be available to all registrants to view between
the 8th and 31 October 2022. The Optional Activities will be available free to registrants on the same system as for demonstrations, i.e., on demand 8 hours after the first running and at any time up until 31 October.
An Online Marketplace will be open 24 hours each day of the event. As will access to the Bonsai and
Suiseki Photographic exhibitions.
The Online Auction will start before the convention at a date to be decided and finish the day before
the Program ends which is 15 Oct 2022. Western Australian Time

VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE NATIONAL BONSAI & PENJING COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIA
The Collection consists of 120 exhibits with approximately 75 trees on display at any one time. The trees are a variety of traditional and modern styles with the Collection highlighting Australian native species including Banksia serrata and Eucalyptus camaldulensis’
Many of the trees are owned by the Collection whilst others on loan from around Australia by the artists or their family. This allows for continued involvement with the community and enables for a dynamic and diverse collection that is always changing and providing new experiences for visitors.
We're very excited to announce that The National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia (NBPCA) will present a virtual tour of the museum in Canberra.

WORLD BONSAI FRIENDSHIP FEDERATION (WBFF)
The World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF) has three main objectives -
🌳 to promote and diffuse throughout the world, bonsai - a living art that can be appreciated
by all peoples;
🌳 to exchange knowledge, technology, information and related matters to the art of bonsai
among countries of the world, thus advancing international friendship and goodwill; and
🌳 to sponsor and promote the World Bonsai Convention (WBC) once every four years.
These objectives are achieved through the work of a Chairman, a Vice Chairman, 9 Regional Directors
and currently the 37 International Consultants.
Each of the 9 Regions is represented by a Director who is a voting member of the WBFF Board
and up to 5 International Consultants per Region who are non-voting members of the WBFF Board.
WBFF is also helped in its objectives by currently 15 WBFF Cooperation Centres around the world,
with additional facilities considering participation. The 15 Centres are currently located in Australia,
China, India and the USA.
This is the 9th WBC and whichever Region wins the bid to host the 10th WBC will be handed the Torch of Peace and assume the leadership role for the following four years.
This is a photo of the Torch, inscribed with all the previous WBC Host Regions.
Registrations are now open for the 2022 World Bonsai Virtual Convention.
