Our Story

From The Beginning

This residential construction company began as just a dream for President, Michael Cronin (known as ‘Mike’ to clients and friends alike). In 1993, Michael’s dream became a reality when he quit his full-time job and finally decided to take the chance on MJC Construction. Over the next 25 years Michael Cronin would grow this small business, which started with only 1 employee. Julia, Michael’s wife of 30 years, and co-owner of this company, would join Michael in every company venture from taking on the one-person finance department to becoming a certified Sunwardsteel building dealer, and then tackling the proudest jobs of Michael’s career. Joseph, Michael’s only son, would work for this company from 2001 to 2002 before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, and again from 2009 to 2011, after returning stateside following multiple tours in Iraq. In 2006, the economy would plummet and Michael would rethink this company’s future with his family’s future in mind. Michael would persevere in keeping the company afloat, and the economy would begin to look up. In 2016, Michael would embark on the most fulfilling project of his professional career. Michael tamed the waterfront waves when he installed a gangway out into the Patuxent River so a client could access the water from their home. 2018 would be a pretty pivotal year for MJC Construction. In 2018, Michael’s only daughter, Kayla, would begin the millennial sector of this company, working in marketing. Also in 2018, Michael would become an Independent Certified Dealer for Sunward Steel Buildings. That brings us to the present, early 2020, where Mike is still on every job-site, meeting with every customer and potential customer, ensuring the quality of every finished product.
