When I first entered the wine industry one of my wine works goals was to lead a panel at the Food + Wine Classic in Aspen. I’ve been a subscriber to the magazine for over two decades and the third weekend in June was always on my radar. It was my father who cultivated my love of food and the art of gastronomy even when these words weren’t in the lexicon for many as they are today.
Look at God. Here we are today and I’m en route to lead not one, but TWO panels in Aspen.
Let the wine fun commence:
* Friday: 3:00pm and Sunday: 10:00am
Snack Attack: FIne Wine Meets Crunchy Cravings with, Erik Segelbaum (). When I first presented the idea of how I like to present wine in a fun and informative way I knew we need a snack panel. Salty, sweet, and savory snacks sare all in the lineup. I want to thank the wine partners because the lineup is stellar. A few of the snacks are plain Lay’s and Combos.
* Saturday: 3:00pm
Ladies First: A Toast to Women Winemakers. And don’t think I am not coming out to Queen Latifah’s hit “Ladies First.” Women have been at the forefront of wine for centuries and I am here to celebrate them. I’m also honored that Bibiana Gonzalez ( |) of Cattleya and Alma de Cattleya will be joining me to walk us through two of her wines.
A big thank you to , , and for having me.
I can’t wait to give big hugs to colleagues, geek out with some of my favorite wine and chef folks, and make new memories.
I know about Tulsa’s Black Wall Street, but visiting is an entirely different experience.
Truly, we are our answers wildest dreams.
Last year I was part of a magical wine and food experience in Cartagena, Colombia 🇨🇴.
We had so much fun that and decided we needed to do it again.
Join me the first weekend of May for a long weekend. Filled with good fun, beautiful wines from South America, and cultural exploration. # #

My first night in Lisbon was meeting new friends and feeling as though I was in the home of Sofia. .s.place is a must stop if you want to eat a fusion of love and the diaspora. I’m still thinking of the homemade hot sauce that I can’t wait for her to bottle so I am never without.
Sofia, you are a gem and I can’t wait for everyone to discover your food while listening to an amazing playlist and merging friends who feel like family.
Obrigada 🇵🇹

Wow! The third annual hosted by chef and author at in Middleburg, VA somehow managed to be even better than the years before! Praise and thanks to the world class wine team , and who curated an amazing program for Wines and a showcase of black owned wineries. In partnership with , and it was a weekend that filled our hearts, our souls, our glasses and our bellies ❤️
Today on Metier, my first in Wines You Should Be Drinking: Massican ()
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Julia, I can’t make any more of this wine.”
- Why?
"These vines are the Michael Jordan of vines. This is all we have.”
- Are you are sure it’s MJ or is it Kobe?
“It’s MJ.”
This was my introduction to Dan Petroski ().
A little more in the newsletter on why you should be drinking wines from Massican, especially the Muscat + Cortese blend he made with maryamandco.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. I’m going there.
I found 10 non-alcoholic wines I like as a wine professional. When a long-time family friend asks you to do the research, well, you do the research and you learn a few things. I'm glad I stayed open because I learned a lot.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is the first official article for my newsletter and because non-alcoholic products are such a hot topic I wanted to approach it from my work in wine. I did the legwork so you don’t have too.
Find out which non-alcoholic wines are in my top 10 list at the link to my newsletter, Métier in my bio.
Chablis, please keep giving us all the delicious Chardonnay. Nothing like a Chardy Party in the vines.
A beautiful first day in Chablis with an epic tasting.
It’s showtime for the awards 2023 🍾🎉

I am grateful to travel the world and learn about wine as a student. It’s never lost on me. The Rhône has been a region I wanted to delve into and this deep dive this week has been a game changer. I’ve met and tasted wines from producers who are passionate, engaged, and produce wines of various styles and complexity.
I’ve met new wine colleagues and reconnected with my international wine community.
Découvertes en Vallée du Rhône is a must experience professional wine event.
Ready for tomorrow in Champagne with a fantastic group of clients with .
So who’s coming with me next year?
When the team and I were discussing Provence, there was one place I knew we had to visit. We had to come to the home of . Thankful that made this marvelous site visit, tasting, and lunch happen.
