Candi Staton is one of the most enduring acts in music. Best known for her iconic liberation anthem Young Hearts Run Free that reached No. 1 in 1976, the Alabama native started singing professionally at age 13 with The Jewel Gospel Trio who toured with music icons Sam Cooke and Mahalia Jackson in the 1950s.

After signing with legendary impresario Rick Hall’s FAME Records label in 1968, Staton was crowned the First Lady of Southern Soul before she became a disco princess and gay icon with a series of smash club hits: "I don’t think I would have sold that many records had it not been for the gay community. They are very loyal."

This month is su***de prevention month. I lost my grandson Brandon Williams yesterday to su***de. I just would like to tell you if you have any problems, please talk to someone about the problems. Brandon remixed some of my songs under the name of BWO. He was also drummer, he played drums behind me. Sometimes, he did my Instagram and Facebook posts. He had just gotten a great job as a crypto security specialist. On the outside, he had so much to look forward to. I’m going to miss him terribly... If you have anything in your mind that you would like to do and you are disturbed, confused, or feel unloved, please speak to someone about it. Don’t make the mistake of committing su***de. My heart is broken today. I’ve been crying, full of tears. You don’t even understand what it does to the entire family. We’re all upset. We are upset but there’s nothing we can do except just pray, so I love you all and I encourage you please keep in mind that Jesus loves you and he’s looking out for you and just talk to somebody. Talk to a psychologist, a friend or call a hotline before you take your own life.

It's not Sunday but today marks the 60th anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham AL that killed 4 young girls, injured 22 others, and served as one of the turning point moments in the civil rights struggle. I was in Birmingham that morning and this song tells what i saw then and what I see now. Please, listen and share with others

God can restore anything. I lost all of my hair when I was undergoing treatment for cancer. Once He healed me, I asked that my hair be restored and He did it!

There is nothing too hard for God. Just have faith. Ask Him for what you need and trust Him to do it.

Sometimes we may feel like we have more problems than solutions.

But let me tell you something. God will never leave you. He will always be there for you no matter where you are in life or what you have done. I know this to be true because I experience His relentless love for me.

Amid life's trials, I've found solace in a song that reminds me of God's unwavering love and presence. It's a resounding truth that even when challenges outnumber solutions, God's constant support endures. I've triumphed over addiction, domestic violence, and cancer, each time sensing His unwavering care.

The lyrics echo, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all my fears are gone. Because I know who holds the future.” In the midst of chaos, His power shines, capable of transforming any situation.

This song is my testament to you: know that you are never alone; God's love is an eternal and relentless, ready to mend and guide if you let Him in.

Trust Him. He will see you through. I am a living witness. With God, all things are possible.
