Des Moines Disc Dog Club

Discs that are allowed in UpDog competitions. For training classes you can use anything but for the actual events, there are required types. Most "traditional" discs are allowed and soft ones are, too.

At UpDog the discs below are allowed to be used at competitions:

All Hero Dog Disc models
All Hyperflite Disc models
All Wham-O Fastback models
Latitude64 line of dog discs
Pup-sized discs are allowed for any sized dog.
Soft or floppy discs that are round in shape, solid in construction (no holes, etc.) and safe for the dog. (Example: A Floppy Flyer would be allowed; however, a Hurl A Squirrel or ChuckIt Flying Squirrel would not be allowed.)

Hello!

I am Hayl Bergeland and I have decided to try something brand new: Disc dog sports. Basically, frisbee with my dogs. Behold, a new adventure and a BRAND NEW CLUB. Des Moines Disc Dog Club

I am by no means an expert at competing in disc sports with my dogs. I have never done it. BUT I have wanted to try for years and low and behold, Iowa doesn't offer much in the way of opportunities and it certainly doesn't offer anything in the way of positive reinforcement + dog sports.

Frisbee with my dogs is an activity I have grown to love with certain dogs that have an affinity for it. My Aussie, Ferdinand, seems to love it. I have found it to be both relaxing for me and super fun for him. It's an opportunity to get exercise and enrich my dog's life...in the comfort of my yard.

Recently I became really interested in an organization called UpDog (UpDog Challenge) and I have thought about offering events through my nonprofit, IHABS, and today decided to go ahead and make the leap. So here we go!

I wanted to hear from you- are you interested in trying this out with me? Do you want to learn? Do you want to just come hang out and throw a frisbee around? The glorious part about all this is that you DON'T NEED EXPERIENCE. Your dog doesn't even need to know how to catch a frisbee. That is all stuff we can learn, and try out, together.
