Face washing mistakes:
🫧 Using a dirty towel and dirty hands while washing your face can easily spread the bacteria to your face that would cause acne. You want to avoid transferring bacteria to your face and make sure your your towel and hands are clean prior.
🫧 Choosing the right products for your skin can be tough, ask a professional for help! They are there to help! The right cleanser makes all the difference.
🫧 If your water is too HOT, your skin can become aggravated. Hot water strips your skin of its natural oils, causing your skin to become dry. Dry skin can lead to a comprised barrier, exacerbate skin conditions such as rosacea, cause breakouts, and give the illusion of sagging skin. If your water is too COLD, you’re not properly able to cleanse your face of the dirt and pollutants. Your pores close up when reacting with cold water, and potentially trapping sebum and bacteria inside. It is best to use lukewarm water when cleansing your skin.
🫧 At the end of each day, it is very important to wash your makeup up. Makeup accumulates dirt, sebum, bacteria, and free radicals throughout the day. You don’t want to trap the grime from the day on your skin while you sleep. Keeping your makeup on will make your skin more susceptible to infection and irritation.

Sunscreen should be your best friend, everyday. Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays AND is also the most important step to prevent premature aging!

Regardless if it’s rain 🌧️or shine ☀️, use SPF everyday. With warmer weather approaching, that means more time spent outside, so remember to reapply every two hours. ☀️

Has there been any recent changes in medication or products? Recent travels 🏝️? Are you pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breast feeding 🤰🏼❔Is there any other changes your aesthetician should be aware of?

Depending on your treatment, you should discontinue retinol 🛑 for at least 3 days before. On the day of your appointment, keep your routine light.

Arriving makeup free is always recommended, but no worries if you can’t, a quick cleanse can take it off! 🫧

Avoid any sun exposure or tanning (tanning bed, tanning mousse, spray tan, etc…). Sun (UV) exposure ☀️ can sensitize the skin causing you to be uncomfortable. If the facial treatment includes steam, exfoliation, chemical peels, or etc…, the skin will become irritated and inflamed.

COMMON SKINCARE MISTAKES ⬇️ Are you guilty of any of these??

Not wearing sunscreen daily: Sunscreen protects us from harmful UV rays. UV rays can damage the skin’s barrier, prematurely age the skin, or cause skin cancer.

Following “trends” seen on social media: With access to a pool of information from the internet, it can be overwhelming. What works for others, may not work for you and not everyone on the internet is a professional. Before taking apart of the latest trend, please please see a professional!

Switching products to often: Switching products to much, using to many products, or using products that aren’t right for you skin can do more harm then good. Before buying your next product, truly ask yourself why do I need this, How can I benefit? Too many actives in your skincare care can be counter intuitive not allowing your skin to properly heal and have a healthy skin barrier.

Over exfoliating: Exfoliating is removing dead skin cells to allow new skin cells to resurface. Over exfoliating can result in breakouts, itchiness, irritation, dryness, or a damaged skin barrier.

Not washing your skin twice daily: It is important to wash your skin to breakdown & dissolve dirt, oil, grime, cosmetics, etc… Clean skin allows your products to pe*****te deeper and be more effective.

Not prioritizing self care and wellness: You are a priority and have to make time for yourself. Your wellness is important. For an hour a month, schedule a facial to press pause from your busy life and just relax!

What should you do before a facial?
