With the release of our KoH video we are going to spend the next few days highlighting our racers.

Here's Andrew Gorman of Gorman Motorsports and Loch'd and Load'd Racing. Andrew has been involved in off-road racing in some form for the past 10 years. He currently races in the 4800 class in his 2018 Jimmy's 4x4 podium chassis. This rig was built by Loren Healy and has a 435ci LS7 built by Pedro Soto with a Maximum trans and King coilovers. He runs Nitto tires and Raceline beadlocks.

When asked how he would describe himself as a racer he said he obviously takes it very seriously and goes into every race with a plan to win and a big part of that is remaining calm and cool at least 99% of the time.

So far as planning and preparation for races he says fortunately he has Jesse Lee (featured next) to prep his car for him. Andrew said he makes a checklist of things to do before arriving on the lakebed and once there it really comes down to some hope and maybe a couple of prayers.

He says that pre-running for the race is a great benefit, especially in the rock trails, both those familiar and unfamiliar as they change so often based on recreational wheelers and racers. Andrew says "I put a lot of faith and trust in my co-driver. Is that a strategy? I like to think so." He said it's important for him to not overdrive the car or get careless in the rocks. He's still working on that last part.

Andrew and Ryan (his co-driver) qualified near the middle of the pack at this years Hammers and had a lot of racers to pass if they wanted to walk away feeling successful. Andrew loves racing the desert and says that's where he'll do the most passing and that's evident from watching the race video. They managed to move themselves all the way up to finishing 12th in the Every Man Challenge. In a race where over 160 registered and only 56 finished, it's a huge accomplishment just to be among the finishers. To be in the top 10% of racers that showed up is a triumph.
