Doc Ronaldo has run the Masters Fencing Academy since 2008, and he attributes his success, both in fencing and life, to simply having a bigger heart. Itâs a lesson in persistence, in never giving up, no matter whatâs in front of you. And after the shocking diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2022, he showed more resilience than ever.
The Masters program is renowned in the areaâs fencing universe as the go-to place to take your skills to the next level. Even if you just want to try it out without joining your schoolâs team â or if youâre an adult whoâs always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity, itâs the place to see what fencing is all about.
âWeâve had kids come in and you could just tell by the way they walk in, weâd say âBoy, this kidâs going to take some work.â Then we work with him for a bit and all of a sudden something clicks and they rise to the occasion and they become this Uber fencer and actually a pretty good athlete - but don't ask them to throw a football don't ask them to dribble a basketball, that's not happening - but fencing enabled them to just rediscover themselves and realize that they don't have to be super athletic to be super successful. You can see it in their poise, the way they carry themselves.â
Masters Fencing Academy holds training sessions at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne. For information about the program, go to mastersfencing.com. If youâd like to talk to Doc about surviving prostate cancer, he can be reached at [email protected]. If anyone can help you through that, itâs Doc.

Leah Klleinsteinz, a Junior at Wayne Hills High School in Pam Stomel's Photo 3 Photography class, was one of our students from the Wayne Lifestyle Picture This Student Photo Contest. We were thrilled to have her work featured in our June issue!
Leah's wonderful shots are proof that artistic talent walks among us, sometimes unsung. It takes a skilled eye to see the world in ways that reflect beauty in the everyday.
Today's photography students are learning how to refine their skills to capture moments in time that might otherwise be forgotten. It doesn't have to be "A Moment" to be art. This simple photo shoot reminds us of that.
We know Leah will continue developing her special talent for photography and wish her the best of luck as she enters her senior year at WHHS!

It's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend ahead for Father's Day, and maybe a round of golf!đď¸ââď¸If you're looking to perfect your swing (aren't we all) here are four things you can do now to help!
âłGet fit for the right equipment.
âłInvest in some proper regular instruction.
âłRead up on your golf facts.
âłPractice a little every day.
Prioritize instruction on your short game first- we promise you'll start seeing results!
I recently connected with Joe Friedman from RJW Exteriors to replace some very old windows in our home. Joe and his installation team made sure everything stayed on track, answered any questions, and did a final inspection. In fact, they were so good that we called them back to our house again for additional window replacements.
Look, weâve all dealt with projects on our homes. How many times did it go the way it was supposed to? Or in the timeframe it was supposed to? Or at the cost? That's why I want to share this testimony- because my answer, before RJW Exteriors, was the same as yours.
Call them, trust me.
RJW Exteriors is based in Lake Hopatcong and serves North Jersey. They can be reached at (862) 263-9733. See more at rjwexteriors.com
For our June issue, we talked with Sophie Marcopoulos, owner of Face Space Esthetics in Wayne, for a little advice on how facial maintenance can help men look and feel their best!
âI recently had a man come in for an appointment who said that he was here for âan oil change and tire rotationâ for his face,â Sophie said, laughing.
âMost men who come in are pretty nervous about the whole thing,â she says. âWe try to put men at ease when they come in, especially if itâs their first time,â she explains. âBecause of things like facial hair, we use a lot of hot towels and steam, and an electrical modality called High Frequency to kill bacteria and stimulate healthy hair growth. Add in the soothing face mask and upper body massage, they find the whole process very relaxing.â

Christian Savino, our June cover model and feature story, talks candidly about the reality of modeling for men trying to make it in the industry.
"I'm still trying to learn the puzzle of modeling and working through the challenges that come with the career," New Jersey Native Savino explains. "It takes a while to establish your personal brand. I'm working on that."
Despite the stress and competition, he says each day also brings new opportunities. He works with MMG, a New York-based agency, and frequently travels to the city for jobs. He prioritized his health through daily exercise and maintains a clean diet. While not always easy, he loves what he's doing and is excited to see what the future brings!
