This pile of cold wax and oil drawings landed just so after being spliced and diced for collages - just one way I incorporate the cold wax medium into my work.

Finally breaking my 8 month hiatus from social media to announce my upcoming workshops held at , just north of Asheville, starting this month.

‘Sanguine Interruptions, III’
Encaustic, thread, enamel on white & red acrylic panel. 18” x 24”
Building work that is a challenge to photograph seems to be my go to, and I’m not anticipating that ending anytime soon. This new series also features iridescence and some metallic undertones- very hard to capture!

weekend is still going strong today…I’m set up here at as a guest artist along with until 5. Its a perfect Sunday for a fall drive!
Since it is a green-forward kind of a day, and spring beckons.
Detail from 'Line shuffle in Spring', 26" w x 46" h, layered encaustic tiles, thread and hardware on aluminum panel.
Because red is the featured color of this particular week - and the color I've been spending a lot of time with lately.
The white encaustic dipped portions are dusted in an iridescent pigment- doesn't show much in photographs - but in the right light they shimmer a cool gold/silver cast that contrasts beautifully with the graphite encaustic. It is rather like dusting confectioner's sugar on chocolate. Just please don't consume.
Encaustic, thread & pearl x pigments, red acrylic sheet
Preliminary test tile, 6" x 6", floating over a strip of 1.75" red acrylic for scale and contrast. I added some powdered metallic gilding to the surface while the encaustic was still tacky, as an experiment. Next step is to scale up the size of the thread/fiber elements, and create even larger tiles for direct wall installation.
This series focuses on the interaction of color, the meditative quality of repetition, and the limitless and liberating concept of variation within structure. Encaustic (wax paint), embroidery thread, felt & aluminum.
