Since April of last year, we served 373 children in the valley who were abused. 316 of those children were sexually abused specifically.
65% of the time the sexual abuse was from a family member, 32% of the time it was by another person known and trusted by the child and their family. Only 3% of the cases last year of sexual abuse were from a stranger.
April is child abuse prevention month. In this and every month we must remember to keep a watchful eye on our children and protect them from abuse.
