The last points race of the regular season at Jefferson Speedway yesterday. Hunter battled a loose car during practice which carried over to qualifying, relegating him to a 21st fastest time out of the 31 cars. We found a chassis issue and fixed it before the heat races started and his heat race went well, started 4th out of the 6 cars. Hunter was fast and did some of his best racing, battling for the lead most of the race before bringing home a second-place finish. Next up was the Last Chance race, where he started 10th out of 13 cars. Needing to finish in the top four to transfer into the Feature, Hunter started the race as aggressively as he had raced his heat race, quickly picking up several spots including making a daring move to gain two positions in one corner! Racing can be a humbling sport and this was one of those times. While continuing his march towards the front, running in seventh place, a mechanical failure ended Hunter’s night early and giving him a last place finish. The results are not indicative of effort made both on the track and in the pits.

Congratulations go out to #10 Emily Billings on wining her first ever feature race! And to #22 Bentley Thompson for backing up his season championship at Slinger Super Speedway with the championship at Jefferson Speedway. Great job!!!

Even though the season is over, there’s still some more racing left. We have a three-week break to prepare for the Wisconsin State Championships, a two-day event at Jefferson Speedway.

It’s championship night for the Bandoleros at Jefferson Speedway! Hunter is hoping to make the seasons last feature race and gain a couple of spots in points. Good luck to the other drivers tonight!

Sunday was the last points race of the season at Slinger Super Speedway. Hunter fought handling issues during practice and it carried over to qualifying, relegating him to a 16th starting position out of the 19 cars. That put him outside front row for his heat race. With his car loose on entry but tight on exit Hunter finished 4th. Being the final race of the season and point on the line, the racing during the feature was furious! Hunter started 15th and did a great job avoiding some wrecks and brought the car home in 14th.

We had our awards ceremony at Slinger Super Speedway to celebrate the end of another wonderful Memorial Go-Kart Inc. series. This series was created in June 2008 after the tragic loss of 13-year-old Parker Klumb to provide youth in the Southeastern Wisconsin area with a positive and educational activity through go-kart racing at Slinger Super Speedway. Kids compete against other kids in their age and skill range. Jaylee, along with the rest purple division, received a medal (points are not kept for the intro division to the karting program). Jaylee had a lot of fun racing and is looking forward to being back next year. Hunter received his trophy for finishing second in his division. Hunter learned a lot this season, winning several heat race and feature races.

Tanner had a very productive race at Briggs & Stratton Motoplex last Tuesday. After making wholesale changes to the front end of his kart in an effort to improve handling, Tanner took to the track and at the end of practice he decided he didn't like how it felt. The lap timer confirmed what Tanner said, he was slower with what should have been the textbook set up. After reverting back to what we had before and taking a track walk with the crew chief to talk about how to enter and exit the trouble corners, Tanner was faster. WAY faster! In racing, teams search for hundredths of a second. They pay good money to gain a tenth of a second per lap. Tanner managed to pick up more than 3.5 seconds!!! His previous fastest lap was 52.953 but he drove it like he stole it and got it down to 49.414! He had three races, finished 12th in his first heat, 10th in his second heat, and 10th in his feature. He's still a rookie, just six years old but he's learning more and more every time he hits the track.

Hunter had an extra long day of racing at Jefferson Speedway on Saturday, 8/17. He continued with improved, consistent practice times and again carried it over to qualifying, where he landed 18th out of the 31 cars. For the second week in a row this automatically put him in the Last Chance race. Hunter started on the pole for his heat race and finished 4th. During the LC, he started 3rd, needing to finish in the top 4 to transfer to the Feature. He fell back to as low as 7th before making his way back towards the front, eventually finishing 4th. Being in the Feature is great because not only does it give Hunter more time racing, but it lets him race against older kids with much more experience than him so he can learn more. Hunter started the Feature 16th and battled hard for position the whole race with the #5 car, with the 5 barely beating Hunter for 14th position.

Starting on the pole for the heat race and third in the LC. Top 4 in the LC advance to the feature.

Two showers right away! But track drying is under way and we are ready to do some racing!

An overdue recap of last weekend's action...Hunter raced at Jefferson Speedway last Saturday, 8/10. He had a strong qualifying run, 16th out of 30 cars, which put him into the Last Chance race. His heat race went well, he did some heads up driving to avoid a wreck ahead of him. He raced hard in the LC race, finishing 5th, just one spot away from transferring into the feature.

Hunter & Jaylee were back at Slinger Super Speedway for the MGK Memorial Go-Kart Inc. season finale. Jaylee didn't have a race but did have a couple of practice sessions. Hunter started 3rd and battled a rough track and finished 3rd, locking him to second place for the season, just five points behind the champion.

On Tuesday it was Tanner's turn. Tanner had some good practice laps at the Briggs & Stratton Motoplex inside Road America. He continues to show steady improvement and maintains consistent lap times. He finished 9th out of 14 karts in his first heat race. Afterwards we found and corrected a front-end issue, which helped the loose condition Tanner has been battling. The change helped him considerably and despite having some mechanical issues he finished 10th in his feature!

Second practice session of the day at Jefferson Speedway is about to get started. Hunter fought a loose car in the first round but still managed to come in 16th fastest out of 26 cars!

A racing history lesson for our fans today. You may not know this, but Hunter, Jaylee, & Tanner are fourth generation racers. The number 707 was first raced by their great grandfather, Bob Graham in demolition derbies and hardtop stock races at the Salem Speedway in Salem, Oregon back in the 1960’s. In fact, it was 60 years ago today, August 8, 1964, that the #707 first went to victory lane! In honor of this day we’d like to share the newspaper clipping from that event and a picture of his 1954 Plymouth. Race day for Tanner at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America. We’ve been able to squeeze in some time to get some much needed work done over the last few weeks. Weather is perfect for racing and we are looking to have some fun tonight! 🤞🏻🏁

The bad news is that the races at Slinger Speedway today have been canceled due to the rain. The good news is that gives the team more time to finish assembling and setting up Hunter's race car. I had to drop off the driveshaft from our tow truck as the carrier bearing is starting to fail, having the u-joints replaced while it’s out as well!

A great night for all the kids in their Memorial Go-Kart Inc. karts at Slinger Super Speedway. Jaylee has picked up the pace a little and was working on making a pass but couldn’t quite complete it. Hunter won his heat race and went on to take P2 in the feature! Excited to get out for the next race!

As you all know, Hunter had a hard wreck during the race at Slinger Super Speedway a couple of weeks ago. The impact pretty much destroyed the chassis so a decision was made to buy a used chassis and move all of the parts from Hunter's Bando over to it. It's a long process and the team has had a couple of unexpected delay but the team has been working very hard on it and we're making progress every day. Again, a BIG thank you to everyone that participated in the 50/50 drawing!

Mother nature strikes again!! Looks like it will be a shop night for us tonight.

Had a good night last Wednesday at MGK. Jaylee is still working on being comfortable driving. Hunter started on the pole of his heat race and ran away with it bringing home the win! Finished second in his feature. Next MGK race is July 17th.

It’s race day! Well not for us. We will be in the shop working on the car today, but you can still head to Jefferson Speedway today for some great short track racing!
