Introducing the KAKOMI IH Donabe Steamer: This sleekly-designed is induction-compatible and versatile. Equipped with a steam insert, you can steam, as well as do hot pot, soups, stews, etc. It also works on any cooktop. Made of durable ceramic, the donabe doesn’t need to be seasoned and is ready to use immediately!

Just Arrived: Gingko Wood Octagonal Cooking Chopsticks

We take chopsticks seriously. After much anticipation, we are thrilled to introduce our handmade cooking chopsticks from Fukui, Japan. Crafted by the esteemed Futaba Shouten, established in 1946, these chopsticks are the product of traditional expertise in ginkgo wood craftsmanship—Japan’s only specialist in this material. Measuring approximately 13 inches (33 cm) long, they are perfectly sized for versatile cooking (especially for !) and serving tasks.

Brand new items, all the way from Gifu, Japan! So excited to announce (finally!) about these Yamasakura trays and coasters, they are made of natural cherry wood from Gifu and made by local artisans. Available in 2 shapes (round and square), the tray can be also used as a placemat or dinner plate, and the coaster can also serve as a small plate to serve dessert, etc.

Our Tenugui, Japanese cotton towels, are featured in the May 2024 issue of Food & Wine Magazine! These hand-dyed artisanal and versatile towels are made by Kamekonya, a 270-year-old dyer from Niigata. Naoko () has been a big fan of their Tenugui for many years. In fact, she started selling their Tenugui when TOIRO was just online more than 10 years ago. Since we opened our brick & mortar store in 2017, we have expanded the Tenugui collection by Kamekonya. Save the Date: Miso-Making Workshop with on April 13!

We are thrilled to welcome Ai Fujimoto, a LA-based miso maker and specialist, as our instructor. She will guide you through the art of Japanese fermentation and miso making. Learn the process of making miso from scratch and indulge in a tasting experience featuring a variety of miso samples.

Naoko and the TOIRO team will complement the workshop by preparing onigiri rice balls using freshly made rice from the Double-lid Rice Cooker, Kamado-san, as well as a miso-themed side dish for participants to enjoy.
